'opening ceremony'!

How do I live without you? This is a far long forgotten post that I've decided to finish it off... The iPad is one of the most important things in my life. This is a device that fetches my daily journal readings from WSJ, Financial Times and Popular Science. In addition, it actually provides stocks and financial updates through Bloomberg app that I’ve gotten from the iTunes store. These applications are incredibly useful and handy. Firstly, I won’t have to wait for the papers to be delivered by the occasional late delivery-man. It doesn’t get my hands stained with carbon, not that it’s a big issue but it’s a plus to the overall positive factors.

The other convenient factor about the iPad will be the portability of lugging information and books that are weighing by hundreds of kilograms into this small device without breaking my back! Also, the resolution of the documents are absolutely stunning, of course, the raw source is an important contributing factor to this outcome.

I don’t really use the iPad for serving the internet. I find it lacking the ability to provide the holistic ‘enjoyment’ of many web pages considering the fact that it doesn’t have Flash in it. The battery life is arguably acceptable I guess? I can’t be asking too much from the device that’s bringing about vibrant colours and well presented information? LOL. I guess the higher expectation of the battery life might have been resulted from being the owner of the Amazon’s Kindle.

Naturally, one would have perceived that the iPad has a shorter battery life as compared to the Kindle. However, I find such comparison unfair on a few grounds. Firstly, the Kindle has a sole and distinct purpose: Reading. That’s it! You get to read in daytime and in the night (with the assistance of the reading light though) but you will not need to try to maximize certain portion of the page or use it to marvel at some graphic related material. You will just need to read from one page to another, and pick it up where you’ve left off the very last time. As for the iPad, you can read journals, play games, keep track of your investments (depending on the apps that you subscribe to), watch videos, act as a photo album and unrealistically, a MP3 player. Hence, we can conclude that the iPad is a device with diversified interests.

I’ve gotten the WiFi version since I’m mainly using within places where there are WiFi connection but more importantly is due to the fact that I’m pretty sure that I will be getting the iPad2 when it’s released. I haven’t reserve one yet. Guess I’ll just have to wait till a point where there will be enough supply for the crazy demand. LOL

I’ve put on the silicon cover as a form of protection to the iPad to prevent the careless me to kill it by ‘accident’. It was quite a kill since I’ve gotten it from Amazon after the release date for the iPad2 was announced.

久違的歌姬，熟悉的聲音，那就是孫燕姿。記得她剛出道的時候，各大媒體是這樣形容她的：＂沒有一個二十一歲的女生像她這樣唱歌，她就是孫燕姿。＂最近看到娛樂新聞，知道她要再次發專輯了，難免有些期待。畢竟是聽著她的歌長大的！哈哈！從一首紅極一時的＜天黑黑＞，到藝術氣息濃厚的＜風箏＞，都陪伴著我度過了校園的叛逆時期。如今再也不是學生的我（算然要再回到校園去了但是感覺卻大不如前），似乎想在這新專輯當中找到新的方向。

我記得她的新人獎的那一刻，我記得她忘詞的那一刻。。。好像在描寫著人生的起伏，有快樂也有悲傷。人生當中也有許多困惑和不確定的時候，休息好像是最佳的選擇，而這一張新的專輯＜是時候＞（０８／０３／２０１１　發行），就是她休息後的代表作品。

希望這次她會帶來不一樣的孫燕姿。。。下次別休息那麼久了。。。

True Grit (Do I have the grit?)

What is true courage? The whole theme of the movie seems to be building on this. Is it boring? No. Then, it is exciting? Again, no. Therefore, what are the plus points for this movie? The positive factors are: it’s clear and direct, some humor but not overwhelming and the outstanding personalities of the characters. Other than that, I couldn’t really think of any other positive factors.

Firstly, the story is about a 14-year-old girl trying to seek justice for the death of his father through a Marshall. I guess there’s no secondly or thirdly for that portion of it. It’s all about the interactions between the few main characters.

Anyone who’s into cowboys’ style of movie should watch it. Anyone believes in justice to be served in one way or another should also watch it. People who think that the Midwest culture is too much for them can just give it a pass.

Overall: B+

The Black Swan (Speechlessly Stunning!)

Life is about pushing boundaries but when boundaries became the only things that you push in life, you're running out of options soon. I can’t help but to feel the fear that Natalie Portman has portrayed in the movie. It’s a stunning performance while many might feel that they were lost somewhere within the movie. It’s something that people who have been pushing boundaries throughout their life will experience. What is real and what’s not? Who’s really there for you and who’s there to see you fail? These questions, in addition to some high expectation of oneself, will eventually blur the line of reality and illusion. Some might argue that these people have chosen such a path for themselves and they’ve got no one to blame but themselves. However, these critics who have yet to fight desperately for something that’s truly dearly to them, have no idea what it is like to survive.

When I mentioned survival, I’m not referring to living day by day, taking in oxygen and food to keep you alive; I’m referring to fighting to keep your passion and dreams alive. Something that is so dear to you that you won’t be able to live without it. Some might think it’s utterly loony to pursue your dreams in this manner but isn’t that the fact of why there are only these few number of people who could claim success and recognition in their lives? I guess the real question should be how far would one go to realize one’s dream.

The movie is so inspiring that I’m rooting in for it to claim the Best Picture and the Best Actress in a leading role. Anyone, who wants to catch a gleam of what is it like to pursue your passion with everything on the line should watch it. People who yearn to live by the beach with the easy Jamaican music should avoid watching; otherwise, the psychiatrists might be reaping the accidental benefit from it. LOL.

The King's Speech (I beg your pardon, your majesty!)

How often is one able to find a true friend in life? A friend that will stand by you and understand you as who you are from within instead of judging you from what you do and your background? Honestly, the chances are near zero.

I think the abdication of King Edward VIII is as dramatic as the affairs of the British Royal family could get. However, the process of King George VI leading his people through one of the darkest hours of humanity has clearly shown the strength and confidence, that no one else could bring about. Hence, the friend who had given him the help to overcome his speech obstacle is clearly more than a friend and deserve every single credit that King George VI had bestowed upon him.

Colin Firth has definitely pulled off a convincing performance of a person suffering from speech issues- stammering to be precise. Personally, I think he’s not only shown the audiences the physical obstacle that King George VI was experiencing, he was able to show the emotional struggle that he has tried to keep the initial arrangement together. I mean, an abdication isn’t something that the Royal Family is going to be proud of after all. I was moved by the fact that a King does have his fear and grief but has to simply suck it up and let his responsibilities to take priority in his life. Through this movie, I was wonder how Queen Elizabeth has managed to survive over all these years, especially given the age that she was coronate as the Queen. She was only 26! Imagine the number of things that she had given up to serve her royal duties.

Back to the movie, this is a movie that one should watch if you’re interested to know what’s happening behind the scene, have a great infatuation over the affairs of the Royal Family, believes that friendship is more than being nice to each other (LOL) and the real emotions that one has to overcome due to responsibilities. You should just skip it if you think that history is so yesterday and you’re more into finding hot dudes and babes rather than knowing what has happened; have something against the monarchy; and you’re just an asshole that couldn’t be bothered with the problems that people whom you claimed to be your friends are experiencing. LOL

127 Hours (Ouch! My Arm! Oh, It's still intact!)

It’s based on a true story. However, I was really skeptical that it might be one of those really dry documentary show before I watch it. After the movie, I was amazed, in fact, in awed of the way that it’s being directed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to claim the best directing award, as I really appreciated the way that the movie was shot, which was done from multiple angle, including handheld, the illusion that the main character will experiencing when he got dehydrated and the pace of the movie was just right for the audience to feel the agony and pain for the victim but not bored by it. If the Black Swan is a movie to portray the emotional and psychological hardship that one has to pay for to achieve their dreams, 127 hours will be a movie that could bring you back to reality on the real, hard and painful decision to make on physical hardship to keep your passion alive!

James Franco has put up a stellar performance but he’s against some tough competition this round for the Best Actor award. Don’t think that he’s going to win it but that doesn’t mean that he’s anywhere far below that. He’s definitely one of those great actors that I’ll be looking out for, for his upcoming projects.

The Kids Are All Right (Is there an elephant in the room?)

As everyone should be expecting already when it clearly stated that it’s about a homosexual theme. However, that the mass public is more receptive about lesbians than gays. That is probably why the director has chosen to shoot the movie in the lesbian family theme rather than a gay one. Ok, back to the story, the storyline is a mixture of comedy and realistic issues faced in both straight and homosexual parents. The focus of choosing homosexual parents has simply amplified the problems such as surrogating parents, sperms and ovum donation, homosexual adults raising kids, infidelity, casual sex, the urge of wanting to settle down, communication breakdown between parents and kids of adolescents stage and many other more. You might think that there are too many themes within this movie and this movie will be too scattered to get the audience to focus on. However, it did! It has done a splendid job in keeping all the above-mentioned issues coherent and has done it in a good flow.

These are issues that people have been avoiding, as it has proven in the long history of humanity that it could never be done in an amicable discussion. Judging from history of the rights of women and the freedom of slavery could very much provide an insight on how difficult to change the stereotype opinion of the mass public. Hence, just think of how most will react to homosexual adults and parenthood. This is something that has become so big that ignoring it will be equivalent of ignoring the elephant in the room. Let’s face it, coming from a conventional family doesn’t necessary gives one a bullet-proof vest against domestic violence and communication breakdown. On the contrary, the ‘unconventional’ families might have the stress of setting a good precedent as many are there to watch them fail might prevail as successful as it could be.

I’m a liberal, so, I’ll be rooting for listening to the real issues happening in the society and find a true solution to it. It’s a hard pill to swallow but it’s the right feel to follow.

Anyone who’s a liberal or at least liberal enough to accept surrogation, sperm donation and homosexual parenting should watch. It isn’t all that serious, in fact, it’s something that could bring about a good laugh while keeping you abreast of what’s happening within the society. You should avoid it at all cost if you’ve homophobia, something against sexual jokes or you’re just the no-nonsense person.

The Green Hornet (Action Filled or Comedy?)

This is a movie that has made the hero looks like a ZERO! It’s a far cry from the original drama series that I’ve watch during my childhood days. The whole idea of remaking a movie to make sure that the classic gets a good touch up while keeping the essence of the show itself. As far as I am concern, I didn’t quite remember watching The Green Hornet as a comedy and I wished it could stay that way.

I think the stunt director and the people in charge of computer graphic and images should be given lots of credits for making the show a blockbuster hit. As the storyline was sort of experiencing some complications throughout the movie, it’s miracle that the movie could actually made it to the end with the villains killed.

The actors were mediocre. Seth Roger could have given us a better attention seeking child performance than being an idiotic spoilt child. Cameron Diaz is such a sweetheart that should dump her manager for getting her such cheesy role. I thought she was very much restricted by the role of a wannabe-smart-personal-assistant as compared to her free-to-kick-ass role in Charlie’s Angels. If we have to find someone to benefit out of this unexpected collateral damages, Jay Chou is the one. Jay Chou has gotten his Hollywood big break and attention through the heavily criticized movie. I can’t help to wonder whether the economy is doing so bad that people literally need something to laugh at to make their day? Should I be telling people this, “You wanna see dumpling good?”? I guess different people will make it in different ways but I’m not sure Jay Chou will want to be the next Asian Jack Black.

If there is a sequel to this movie, I do hope that they director and the script writer should really sit down and think about doing the Green Hornet some justice instead of turning it into a comedy. I’ve nothing against occasional humor and stuff but when you do it to an epic character, I won’t be supporting it. Seth Roger can act, so does Cameron Diaz, so just revamp the script and pull it together, the next movie will be a better one?

Overall: F (is there anything worse than this?)

The Ugly Truth- I still can't get the flick the bean outta my mind! LOL

What happens when Grey's Anatomy meets 300? The dynamics is incredible! Katherine Heigl has definitely proven that she is more than a bimbo but one who is versatile in serious acting and comedy. Though most of the humor in the movie wouldn't be appropriate for kids and family gathering, it's one quality comedy that will be able to set itself apart from the generic, lackluster Hollywood romance. As for Gerard Butler, he's presented himself to be comfortable and capable of wooing the audience with Katherine Heigl. He definitely deserves his fair share of credit in the success of the movie, though some might feel that it's a little cheesy?

Katherine Heigl has definitely one more proud moment to add on her resume. I could hardly fathom how was she able to put up the amazing 'moaning' scene? I won't want to know about the details anyway, it's good the way it is. I quoted this as one of the many factors that have made this comedy unique. I'm not suggesting that all the other Hollywood actress should start taking up roles to fake an orgasmic reaction or trying too hard to be like Marilyn Monroe impostor. This is exactly where the fine line of difference between cheap and humor and Katherine Heigl is definitely shining from the zone of humor.

However, it isn't all good without the shortcomings. For one, I couldn't exactly get the sadness from Katherine Heigl until her co-star made it a fact that it couldn't be anything to be happy about. Maybe I was overwhelmed by the laughter and had neglected the details. But wait! Isn't that supposed to be the job of a good actress? This is Hollywood and not some Shakespearean play that most literary act major insomnia-plagued students have to get delusional in order to comprehend.

I've started on a satisfactory note with Gerard Butler and you wish that it's getting better? Nah... As a matter of fact, I do really like Gerard Butler as an actor. That is more the reason to be disappointed in him. Like I've mentioned above, we've got give him credit for the success of the movie. But, isn't establishing your personalities and position in the movie industry a greater priority? I wouldn't have agree to take up this role, if I were him. 300 was a good start. Though many was comparing it against Russell Crowe in Gladiator, I feel that he is different and it wouldn't fair to compare these 2 movies side by side. However, he does need an epic movie to mark his moment and Ugly Truth just isn't the right one. I can understand the fact that most Hollywood Artistes are cashing on their success by taking up roles that we perceived as box office failure, such as Halle Berry doing Catwoman, Johnny Depp doing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (I'm not naming Pirates of the Caribbean because it's a COMMERCIAL SUCCESS, LOL) but they've taken up those roles after proving their ability to act. Am i suggesting the winners of the Academy Award to be the benchmark for all other actors and actresses to match? No. At least make an attempt to show us what you've got, and after that, even if you don't win an Academy Award, the audience will know what you're capable of.

Maybe I've been over-scrutinizing the movie and missing its objective. No, I haven't. I have acknowledged the success and uniqueness of the movie. It is a good movie for couples to catch during the holiday seasons or just over a normal weekend! Trust me, you'll get a good laugh out of it (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you ain't the religious type that put on a shocked expression while the others are laughing? LOL).

In conclusion, it's recommended for most to catch, even for those who have recently assumed the 'single' status. LOL. It'll give you hope to keep on looking for true love while nursing the wounds you've sustained from the previous ones.

Shayne Ward- Obsession (Is something missing?)

I am not sure whether it's a move in the right direction for Shayne Ward's new album but it's definite showing his versatility in the pop music industry. There are a few catchy ones that i like and i'm pretty sure that it will be a hit at the pub scene.

Some of the die-hard Shayne Ward fans might be slightly disappointed that the album sounded very commercialized as compared to his previous works. However, I think it's important to be 'profitable' in order for the record companies to give you the opportunities to do more albums. Look at Britney Spears, Justine Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez and many more. The common thing is to be able to sell. The artist might have their take and opinion on the directions and choice of music but at the end of the day when it comes down to sales numbers, they might have to accommodate the direction the record executives have decided.

Overall, I would say this is a record that you will need to listen to it for a few more times to like it. Hence, don't jump to conclusion after the first listening.

The Unexpected Return

Hey guys! I'm back! Guess you guess must be thinking "What the Fuck!". If it's of any consolation, you're not the only one who's having this response.

I thought I must be out of my mind to reopen my 'past'. However, the coincidental discovery of a long-lost-friend has given me some enlightenment. In fact, I've accepted the fact that some of us have taken an 'alternative' route in life. Whether a privileged life, quality education or rare opportunities that were given to us while we were experiencing life at a rather immature age couldn't have ensure us success and stability. There is one thing for sure. We tend to run away from the shit that we've created and due to the chances we've taken against all kinds of advise that were given, we find it incredibly difficult to reverse and correct our mistakes.

I do think that I've concocted the worst poison to bring along the downfall of my life. Ridiculous as you guys might think, especially to the people whom I've been working with. A career breakthrough, credibility establishment and the network and connections might seem to be the couldn't-be-better lifestyle most would have aimed in their life, not to mention the overwhelming amount of 'Benjamins' which could solve any problem (most problems will be more appropriate) in this over pragmatic mundane world.

I've left something behind. I know what it is and it's tearing me apart. I'll never be able to make peace with myself if it isn't materialised. I can feel the pain within my soul, screaming at the top of its voice to get the much overdue help. I've been ignoring it. Now it's almost done doing passive protest, and I guess the recent brawl that I was involved would be a strong evidence to substantiate its shift towards an aggressive stance.

I'll be hanging around for a while. I've turned down all kinds of offer. For once, I'll be returning to the basics, listening to who I really am instead of feeling disgusted with the person I see in the mirror every morning. I know that I'm different from my peers. I've made my share of mistakes and I'll be going down the path of rectifying it. Most likely I'll be out of town by the fall of 2011 and hopefully I'll be ready to do what it takes to make it 'right'.

I don't know what I've done to hurt those people that I've acquainted over these few years. I don't want it to go on.

I'll continue to blog about books, music, movies, dramas and games, giving my personal opinion of the product over here while the other will remain as an avenue for me to express my feelings and encounters.

Guess I've been talking too much for now and I'll really need to work on my writing skills, looks like they ain't as sharp as before? LOL

This will be my last post and it will be the last time that I'll shed light on my personality.

I've always thought that my father would be the last person on Earth to really have the ability to hurt me. Till today, I was proven wrong.

I'm only going to say this once, I'm sorry to those that i've hurt or treated as trash. I've been an asshole to so many that I couldn't even name you guys. But, it does not mean that I'm turning better.

I have forgotten this feeling. The pain from within my heart and soul. Today, I've gotten the taste once again. It's never a good thing when I'm in this state of mind. The last time it took place, terrible things happened.

In simple terms, just stay away from me. I'll get worse, much worse that you won't be able to anticipate the damage. You guys don't have to go through this but I'm determined to crush someone and it will take me a while. I'll be a bastard, a fucking asshole that will treat you worse than crap if you're no value/use to what I want to achieve. Don't be dumb enough to try it out. I can assure that I won't be bothered if you're gonna end up killing yourself because of what I've said/done. You will just be another stranger that disappeared from my life.

Listen, nothing matters to me till I get what I want.

It has been a while since my last update. I can assure that that I'm really packed and filled to the brim, trying to cope with my day to day schedule. Despite, having a personal assistant to iron out things such as appointment and msc stuff, there are so many things to handle. I'm sacrificing my sleep to do this update, but it'll be mostly pictures rather than my blogging after my hectic life. Anyway, the arrival of Amazon shopping trophies has never failed to keep me surprised and excited. Take a look for yourself and you will know why! LOL

Fish is a biography of T.J Parsell and his life in prison. He has since changed and become extremely successful. However, the traumatic events that took place during his time in the prison has made him determined to step out and tell the rest of the public what's happening behind those high walls that barricaded us from them (the prisoners).

This book has clearly conveyed the message on the urgency to bring the much overdue changes to prison where many young men have been abused while serving their sentence. Yes, criminals should be punished for the crime that they have committed but that doesn't mean that they should be treated like low-life beings where pretty boys have to find themselves 'Men' to be their protector to prevent themselves from getting raped and humiliated. This is simply ridiculous and for people who think that they deserved it, I would very much like them to consider the fact that there are many situation and possibilities and by a twist of fate, that could be our father, brother or someone close that we know. We won't want someone that we know to go through such treatment.

However, it's easily said that done to bring changes to prison environment. This is mainly due to the inertia of politics in place. Which politician would want to woo voters by telling them that they would improve the condition of prison? I wouldn't even dare to bet on it. This is one typical example that the motivation for change will have to come from the mass public and the society. Otherwise, there will be countless victimized inmates seeking their own ways to resolve the problems that they faced in prison. Unfortunately, some had resort to end their lives so as to end their miseries that no one had bother to shed attention on.

the author, T.J. Parsell

The only good thing would probably be T.J Parsell had found who he truly is (deep within) and to be proud of it. He's gay, and he's been in denial before the series of unfortunate events descended upon him. Though it was painful, at least he knew himself better and became a better person (Still, i think it's too much to pay for an enlightenment). He's currently an active defender for the much the needed change in prison. I admire his courage and determination. For most convicts will be regular to the prison, only a handful is able to break that cycle and I don't think there's anyone that's brave enough to step out and say "That's it, we don't deserve this!". One might have to worry on who's gonna listen? But he did it.

Though he has aged, I don't think anyone would have difficulty to see why he had gone those horrific experiences. It's such an irony that a pretty face that many would die to become one of those Hollywood stars had brought upon humiliation and violation to T.J. Parsell.

This will the last book that I've chosen to read about difficulties and traumatic experiences that men have gone through and survived. I started off finding themes which I thought I would probably choose death over enduring the taunting experience and making hard decisions, like Reichen Lehmkuhl in "Here's What We'll Say". These 2 books have clearly shown me that life is filled with surprises. There is nothing that we can't expect, there's nothing that we shouldn't be grateful for; similar things and events will have different outcome on different people. Hence, nothing is generic. We shouldn't take people experiences and conveniently use it as our own outcome. It's always worth trying to see what we could make out of it.

It will great if i ever get the chance to interview T.J. Parsell personally. The reasons being i'm not a big fan for celebrities (I'll rather watch them on movies and T.V shows rather than to talk to them personally.) But the strength and goal that Parsell is pursuing is unique and different that not many will be able to follow his footsteps in doing so! I certainly hope that he succeed in achieving what he had set out to complete.

Reichen Lehmkuhl- Here's What's We'll Say (A book telling us that men can be different too)

I’ve just finished reading 2 books, which have put men under a very different light from what most of us know about them. Men have given us the impression that they are strong and reliable under various circumstances. These 2 books that I’ve read have depicted men showing their vulnerabilities and hardship that nearly tore them apart.

Reichen Lehmkuhl- Here's What'll Say (Cover Page)

The first book that I’ve read is a ‘somehow’ similar to a biography. Reason that I’ve included the somehow is due to the fact that our main character (who has been depicted in the Amazing Race) had been with the U.S air force and some of the characters that were quoted in his story are still serving the country. Hence, if he were to use their real names, it would probably compromise their career in the military. “Here’s What We’ll Say” has been chosen as the title as this was the main phrase that was consistently used to protect their homosexual identity. Therefore, whenever they were caught, they would convene in a meeting and finalize on what they should give as ‘appropriate’ reply to get them out of trouble with the authorities. Come to think of it, it’s really pathetic that one has to hide his/her sexuality to serve one’s country. Indeed, I totally agree with Reichen that no one should be discriminated for who they truly are.

However, it has brought up the other side of the argument that there are people who wouldn’t come out of the closet even if Laws have been passed to protect them. I do think the most important thing would be themselves, have to reconcile of who they really are. Just think of the Ricky Martin entry that I’ve created previously. I’ve quoted various reasons of what could be the possibilities that deterred him from ‘coming out’ sooner. I think the same is to be applied to the personnel serving in the military. They might prefer the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy than having to force people to accept them superficially but end up gossiping about them behind their backs.

This is a book that describes Reichen searching for his own identity and friends around him going through the same problem. Different people have resort to different ways to ‘express’ themselves. This is definitely a book worth reading to understand that not all men are the same. Some are different but deserve the same respect that we are giving to their counterparts. Being a homosexual doesn’t mean that they are useless, worthless and unacceptable in the society. We just have to learn to accept them as who they are and I believe that they will be able to contribute more to the society at a more comfortable environment.

It's definitely a book worth reading but for those who are on the extreme end of homophobia, i do think they might find it hard to swallow. As some of my friends will find it hard to accept people like Reichen Lehmkuhl and would keep their distance away from them. (I'm often accused of being too gay-friendly LOL). However, I do hope that most are willing to listen to their stories. "If being straight is an option, who would want to be a homosexual freak!" is one of the lines that i've heard so many times when these gay friends of mine get emotional. Sigh.

7/10 (mostly for having the courage to come out and tell the story behind then scene)

Amazon KindleDX (E-Reading has never been this fun!!!)

Guess I won't have to say much about this device since it has been on the market for a LONG time. LOL. i didn't expect that i will be getting the DX version but after looking through the collection of books that are design for DX's capabilities, i was bought over and i caved in to get a Amazon Kindle DX.

The Kindle DX is really good in producing quality reading materials minus the weight that normally come along with it. I love reading with my Kindle DX and so far i've completed reading, or rather re-reading, Dan Brown's Angels and Demons, The Da Vinci's Code, Michael Lewis's The Big Short. I shall talk more about the ebooks in future post and concentrate more on the Kindle DX itself over here. Can you imagine slogging around with more than a 1000 pages in your bag? C'mon, life is harsh and it doesn't need further stress load to make it worse. LOL. Since I've gotten the Kindle DX, i've began to transfer my notes in PDF to it (i'm teaching Economics, hence imagine the amount of notes) and it has since become a breeze for me to locate the necessary topic that i'll be teaching. i should say that it's indeed a lot more convenient than the past where i had to constant check and make sure that i've all the materials with me for reference. In addition, i get to read while travelling from point A to point B. At times, it does attract some attention from bystanders at a travel junction where i had to stop and wait. I heard comments such as "It's clear and non-reflective under the Sun.", "It's sleek and elegant.", "Love the clarity of the screen." and many more positive remarks.

I shan't go through the details of it as you guys can always read it from Amazon yourself.

The only downside will probably be it's non-touch screen function... LOL other than it works pretty well for me.

The A-Team

Firstly, let me start it off by giving The A-Team a round of applause. The reason is: Most movie sucks a big time when they are chosen for the remake. I can could you examples such as The Eye, Friday the 13th, The Karate Kid... the list can go on forever. We have to accept the fact that some of the movies are simply epic! It's best to leave them alone such as Godfather, Braveheart and many others. People will love to watch those movies over and over again instead of watch some lackluster remade version of it.

However, not only the cast of The A-Team bring out the flavour of the original movie, they had managed to find the balance in fusing the humor of then and now!

I had the opportunity to watch the movie when my students were persistently reminding me that I was supposed to catch a movie with them. When they suggested The A-Team, honestly, I was like raising my brow in skeptic that it will be another disaster for me. LOL. It turn out to be good but not excellent.

The good thing:

They've managed to stick to the original as much as they could in the forms of design, casting and background of the story. Even the characters look very much alike to the original cast! See for yourself!

As for the humor, i think you've got to get the tickets and watch it in the theater! LOL

Ok, now, the bad things (not really bad):

It's the humor and jokes. I've said that it's good but not excellent. This is mainly due to the fact that we've got so spoilt by comedy dramas such as 30 Rock, The Office which practically made us laugh every 30-45 seconds! Can you believe it? I know, it's sort of too much to ask for but since it's a remake, I had higher expectation for it. LOL

I've created another blog that will be concentrating more on my feelings and stuff that's going on in my life (definitely more Emo then ever. LOL.). This blog will be the place where I'll still pour in my opinion from I.T gadgets, books, TV shows and drama, movies to games. I think the shopping on high (or normal) fashion will be crossing over to the other blog too.

At the same time, the other blog will feature the pictures that I've taken or will be taking in the near future. Also, my travelogue will be featured over there too. This decision has come about as I find it difficult at time to maintain a blog with rational critic on one hand and emotional events on the other. It's sort of a double standard in one environment. Hence, I do think it's better this way that I've spilt them up and I can be more critical with the stuff over here and let my feelings flow free on the other side.

I know that I haven't been very active in blogging over the past month. I shall make up to it with the upcoming view that I'll be giving on the movie Green Zone to the recent reading of mine from John Grisham- The Associate. However, I am still contemplating on whether I shall make it public or be more discreet about the other blog that I am maintaining since it will reflect a huge part of my life. Just give me some time to think over. Meanwhile, if you're able to see that blog, good for you then as most would have known on how to check it out for my 'other' blog before any changes is made (restrict or not to restrict).

American Idol Winner 2010! - Lee Dewyze!!!

Firstly, I think i should congratulate myself! Why? For predicting the right American Idol (for once!!!)! This is significant since this will be the last time that I'll be watching American Idol. Undeniable that the show will go on as Paula Abdul has mentioned. However, the show can also crash and burn as part of moving on. Remember the show, The O.C? When Micha Barton was removed from the show (they had her character die) the following season became it's last season. Shows need chemistry among the cast, the cast will then be able to build the link with the audience, hence, translating into ratings! You can't expect removing someone who's constantly the favorite or the controversial character of the show to leave and no impact is caused. It's always damage control policy that's chosen. Such as not announcing Simon Cowell replacement immediately to minimize the impact caused. Good luck to Simon Fuller, hopefully he'll have his crash cart ready. I'm pretty sure that the ratings WILL dip after Simon Cowell's departure. All he can do is to change up the show, giving the new impression, and hoping that the audience will buy the story. Otherwise... guess you don't need me to paint the outcome right? LOL

2010 American Idol Season 9 Winner!!!

I'm happy that Lee Dewyze has won. Someone asked me whether he's as good as David Cook, Adam Lambert, (not even bringing in Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson) and David Archuleta. They told me that these people have their 'unique' group of audience which will enable them to sell certain amount of sales volume. I told them no but he's different and that will be the attracting factor for people to buy his album. I can see him transforming from one style to another from album to album but I don't think I'll be able to accept dramatic changes for those 3 alumni mentioned. Imagine David Cook doing soul music, Adam Lambert doing teen pop, and David Archuleta doing heavy metal? Nah. That's probably when they wanna end their career. LOL. However, it's different for Lee Dewyze. He's more versatile but at the same time, able to leave his signature on the songs he sings. He's not outstandingly good, but will i be able to recognise songs that are sung by him over the radio? Yes! Does he have star quality? Yes. Remember what I had previously posted about Simon Cowell defending Leona Lewis when the other judges said that they think that she lacked the diva quality, and Cowell said that "If not being big-headed, constantly throwing tantrum and being difficult to work with, I'll rather have you lack in diva quality than you having that.". It's the same thing for Lee Dewyze. He's camera shy, he's not that open, probably most will say that he's reserved, but is that something bad? Nah, most people will see that as a 'plus' than a minus. In addition, I think the timing is right for him to make his big break where some people just don't accept Lady Gaga style of music, Lee will be the perfect alternative to turn to.

I'm definitely looking forward to see his first album coming out. Just make sure that he chooses the right songs! LOL. Sounds like what the judges will say from week to week on Idol but i think this is more crucial than ever as you don't have another week to prove yourself. An album is always a make or break, remember Kelly Clarkson career path? Breakaway (HUGE success!) -> My December (OMG! What happened?!) -> All I Ever Wanted (Ok, better; but we're still recovering from My December shock). You get my point?

American Idol 2010 Prediction?

For many years, the contestant that I've predicted to win will always end up in the 1st runner up position. Sigh.
However, this year, I'm going against the hot favourite- Crystal Bowersox. I'm gonna place my bet on Lee Dewyze.

Crystal Bowersox

Crystal is good but Lee is able to leave his signature on every song he performs. Crystal is versatile, however, at times, this could be an obstacle for the audience to recognise who she is as an artiste. It's difficult, just like what Simon Cowell said in one of the shows that they keep telling contestant to be original and at times, it seems to be their fault when the contestants get so 'original' that they got swallowed up by the song and arrangements. True, it's hard to balance and I feel that Lee's unique husky vocal has just the right amount of originality without cracking his brain on how to be more different the the original arrangement. Though some my friends said that he's like the by-product of David Cook (the winner of season 7), I do think he's different where I could detect soul and a little country in his music as compared to the purely rock of David Cook.

Lee Dewyze

Lee should win as he has the typical background of what the American love, a humble background. I know this sounds weird, but take a look a Britney Spears, Robert Downey Jr and many more. American love to see someone climbing up more a blackhole of social problems like drugs, alcohol (and the list goes on). It's not the exact case that's in Lee, but his paint shop assistant job from his past is a great contrast to where he is now. Contrast! Yes, anything that's seemingly pale wouldn't be what the american wanna see. Drama! LOL

That's all for now and let's hope this season will end with my prediction hence, I won't regret for not watching American Idol after this (not watching after Simon departs from the show).

Canon DR2020U (Goodbye to the bulk and weight of Academia load!)

I have been using this to make my load lighter! As a avid reader, (and a control freak at times) I would prefer to have most of my reference stuff with me. Be it teaching or falling back to fundamental stuff with banking, I like the feeling that I can have immediate access to it.

The whole idea is that I can finally edit most of the stuff that I have scanned. Don't worry, publishers out there, I'm a person who is very conscious about copyright, hence, save you guys the trouble to guess whether it's going to be another 'distribution' trouble. LOL. I have been doing that for my music collections and most of my friends are already whining about it, saying that I'm not 'sharing' the joy that I owe. LOL. The usual answer from me will be, "If you think you like it, go get it and if you're unsure, I can always let you listen to some of the songs on my iPod (which you won't be able to download from) to be sure of the album that you should be spend it on." It is mostly reciprocated with that, "Can't you just let me rip it out" look. LOL. I'm sorry guys, I'm a big fan of capitalism, hence, believing in making your own money and enjoy life with every single dime made. LOL. Sounds like an ass? But listen, if everyone starts ripping from one another, firstly, you're gonna get a hard time to get people to sell good things on the market. This stretches from music to books and many more, all you're gonna get is crap that has been circulating for God-forsaken-amount-of-time. Face it, you want people to put up something good, set the incentives right. I won't want to work for free, hence, we shouldn't be doing the same to the others.

Think I'm digressing a little. LOL. Anyway, this will be a perfect match especially when I've gotten Amazon's Kindle and Apple's iPad from the States (I'll be flying there again next month- for work and holiday!). It's fast, it basically devoured a 600 pages book in 15 minutes! Can you believe it? Nothing has been better, especially when you need to quote and make citations at the same time, when everything is in soft copy, it's GREAT! LOL.

What's even more cool then ever, it can de-skew the slanted pages, remove highlighted markings, remove punched holes, skip blank pages, restoring faded words and text with it's highly comprehensive text recognition! I'm still amazed at the things this gad can do after acquiring it for 2 weeks already! LOL

If you are one who spend a lot of time looking up facts and requiring citations and quotes, this will be good. Although this technology isn't cheap to start with, I've paid SGD$1300++ for it, it's worth every single cent.

District 9- A Sci-Fi movie that can make you cry!

Have you ever thought that one fine day you will be crying watching Sci-fi movies, not because of their horrific scenes but because they have touched somewhere deep within your heart. If you haven't, then District 9 will be the one. It's definitely simpler than Artificial Intelligence (AI) which was directed by Steven Spielberg.

Can circumstances change a man's point of view? Can it make a man stronger than he is? Why would one give up on his own to help the 'enemies'? These are some of the questions that you can keep in mind and you will be sure to get some answers at the end of the movie.

The protagonist started of as a fool, no, i think an idiot would be a better description. LOL. But seriously, at the beginning of the movie, you will be saying comments like "Oh crap! Not another cash cow bitch that Peter Jackson is throwing at us?!". Then, from the point where the protagonist got infected and turning into his 'alien' form bit by bit and got deserted by his own people, in my opinion, it's where the movie starts to get interesting. Humans are selfish would be a known fact to all, but what interest me is that the extent that humans are willing to go in order to secure that own benefits. Till this point of time, I still don't get the idea of why can't they write the role of the protagonist as a normal, good-looking, and confident man? Are they trying to include the 'zero-to-hero' element in it? I just feel that it will be better if it's given a more serious tone in the initial part of the movie. The man can be weak, but he doesn't have to be funny. The reason being that the movie isn't meant to be funny.

It's inspiring and many resonate with the ideas projected in the movie. I bet many would be thinking of how trust worthy they are and who are the ones that can be trusted in time of crisis. This will be a profound for me. I have no idea of who i can trust, probably myself, and... no one. LOL. That's so me. LOL

It's a movie that's worth watching (except for the 1st 10 minutes- Just bear with it, and you will understand why I've said so.). It's different, it isn't corny and it has some 'wow' factors such as the weaponry of the aliens that are exclusive to their use. I mean, philosophical movies tend to turn people off, due to their corny philosophy and the dryness in conversation. This has managed to strike a, somehow, balance between interest but still manage to convey the message.

Hence, I'm giving...

Rating: 7/10 (solely for the second half of the movie, and I'm trying hard to not remember to first part or it won't be a 7 anymore. LOL)

Duplicity- It reminds me of why I don't want a relationship...

This is a blown up version of what most couples have experienced, at least once, on their journey of seeking 'true' love. The guessing game and the whole suspicious saga going on when you've gotten the taste of sex and you wonder whether the other party is going to hold up his/her end of the deal for the relationship. However, I do think that it's a little tiring if this is the way that one would have to experience love (is it love or fun in the first place?).

I admire Julia Roberts acting skills but this isn't the Oscar winning moment to be seeking out for. I thought that the show was a little whining that I had fell asleep before returning to the point where I had some faint impression (I had watched it on the DVD). It was sort of predictable of its unpredictable nature that it had wanted to instilled in the audience. I believe most would have guessed the ending right before it's reveal. Hence, what's the thrill of watching this movie? Surprisingly, there are a few! LOL

Firstly, you ran out of ideas to test your newly acquainted partner and you are opened to ANY available method out there in the world. You will be sure to benefit from how to test whether a man is cheating, pushing boundaries on find out on how much he loves you (why can't girls just get over these types of questions?), and testing limits of tolerance on both.

Secondly, you will love it if you like to gloat at one's wit which turns out to be a total failure. Sort of Schadenfreude scenario if you get what I am trying to say.

Thirdly, you're a BIG fan (really big fan of hers, otherwise, you will start pursing with either fear/anger. LOL) of Julia Roberts. Seriously, even if you're one, I do think you will be writing an email telling her to be more careful in accepting roles in movie after this.

That's all; so, with all those pros (limited, i know) and cons (in abundance, unfortunately) I'm giving...

Carrie Underwood- Play On

Carrie Underwood is undeniable the best selling artistes in the U.S from the American Idol Alumni. Just as what Simon Cowell had predicted before she became the winner of the fourth season of the American Idol, a singing-reality-competition show. She's got the look, the country twang (unique and distinctive) and personality (she's a vegan- probably the sexiest one with Leona Lewis closing up the gap on to her. LOL). What I'm trying to say is that, she's pretty much a all-rounder with the big screen left to conquer. If you really want to pick on something that's unpleasant, probably the fact that she's engaged to Mike Fisher (a ice-hockey player, I'm so not gonna post his picture over here! *&%&$%#!), getting married in the summer of 2010 and there's no sign that they are breaking up or whatsoever. LOL. By the way, that's coming from a man's perspective, you've got to understand that...

Regarding her latest album Play On, the main songs aren't my favorites and if you were to compare it to her first album Some Hearts, you will notice the distinct difference and probably derive the same conclusion as I did.

Play On (the song) has a very distinct country twang all over it. I seriously think the melody is a little simple and at times, a little boring (I'm sorry Carrie, but I'm still a big fan of yours! LOL). Carrie Underwood has great vocal and I do think that this song has actually prevented her from shining out.

I don't even feel like mentioning Cowboy Casanova. When I first heard it over the radio at the gym, I was like "Sounds familiar... but it's a little corny and provocative... Who's singing it exactly?" When I found out it was Carrie Underwood, I was almost fainting; thinking that she's gonna crash and burnt like Kelly Clarkson on her second album- My December... (I'm sorry Kelly, that didn't work out very well but I seriously like your music and I'm proving it by attending your concert on 27/04/2010 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. LOL)

David Wessel- In Fed We Trust (Who else can we trust in a period like this?)

This is clearly the best book that I have read if you want to get a clear picture of what had been happening before the collapse of Lehman Brothers to the great recession of 2008. David Wessel, in my own opinion, has provided some valuable insight to what are the tell-tale signs and what can be done to prevent another of such catastrophic event from happening again. Though I doubt it will last. For me, the economic cycle is like a computer anti-virus software. You come out with a virus, then there is the anti-virus to prevent your system from getting infected. However, this is a tit-for-tat cycle. It just goes on and on. Hence, I believe the same rules apply to the finance industry. But, it's undeniable that the preventive measures will ensure that future investment and asset management would be less volatile and take a longer time than before for such event to take place again.

After reading this book, I've came to a few conclusions. Firstly, I, seriously, think that Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the Federal Reserve of the United State of America is probably the second most powerful person in the world, if he isn't the most powerful than the U.S. President. Look at the significance of his policies and how it can sway and move markets! You simply have to hold Ben Bernanke in awe! How can one person know what to do in such overwhelming amount of stress and constricted amount of time.

Secondly, I am convinced that Lehman Brothers has to go. I am a firm believer that people will keep trying to test the system to see how much stress will it be able to take. In this case, many were quite convinced that the government would not have let it go under. However, even if it could, I still think that Lehman Brothers should go. I'm sorry for the countless number who people who have lost their money out there but it's simply the best way to tell people to stop chasing stocks and open their eyes wide enough to understand what they are investing. People shouldn't just invest due to the long history of a corporation or just assume that 'they' are too big to fail (though they are correct to a certain extent, the government just can't let every financial institution go under like that, it will be the END!). At the same time, it does help to send the clear signal across to the management of the other financial institutions that such outcome could happen to them and hence, be more caution in taking risk. As most would have bet on the fact that the US economy being the largest economy in the world will not sink and the other countries out there can't afford to let it sink and began taking HUGE risks beyond reasonable assessment.

If you wanna know what had happened then and why has is caused such overwhelming fear in the current stock market, you read it and not become a victim of such disgusting greed and irrational behaviour.

I just read about the news of this stunning level from CNN. It struck me somehow surprising but at the same time within expectation. Surprising in a way, I didn't expect Ricky Martin to announce it just like that from his blog, especially after the famous Barbara Walter's interview where she tried to corner him to admit that he's straight. Them, again, from the picture below, I believe you know how amazing the paparazzi of modern days are capable of doing, and looked at it in an 'artistic angle'.

Girls, I know that you guys will be drooling over this pic in front of the monitor, pls exert some self-ctrl!!! LOL

Many would argue from this point onwards for why has he only admit about his sexuality now. However, I think it's only fair that most should see the point that it could have easily been the end of his career if he had came out at that time. There wasn't Obama (an epitome for CHANGE) there wasn't Adam Lambert (The daring American Idol who came out of the closet soon after the competition). I'm not saying that Ricky Martin lack the courage to voice out then, I'm trying to point out the fact that there was a lot at stake considering his career and fans at that point of time.

It is because he's no longer a highly idolized celebrity that's why he's willing to come out of the closet? I don't think so. I still think that he has a significant number of loyal fans supporting him and it wouldn't be of any problem if he wants to carry on to go on tour, conduct concerts and release new albums. I do buy the story that he has came out as he's a father of 2 sons and it would be a hindrance to establish to strong-honest bond with his children. Without being able to face them with who he really is will prove to be an issue along the way when they are growing up. The paparazzi, his own private life will have been fractured and no one will want to lead such a life. Hence, maybe the fact that he's come to a point to recognise that his family is what matters to him most and his fans will understand and continue to support him for his music and accept him as who he is.

It's so envious and simple for Ricky Martin to come out of the closet and say that he's a fortunate homosexual while many straights people can pour out their heart and soul out but end up being broken and hurt. The irony of modern world? Maybe. There are many obstacles that I'll have to overcome in life to ensure that it wouldn't haunt me down the road in future. If my problems are to be as simple as his, I will be the happiest person on Earth for that moment. Unfortunately, it isn't. However, I'm happy that I'm not busy crushing and hurting people for the time being. Trust me, if I had a choice i wouldn't have done so. I do feel sorry for those who felt/ still feel the pain that I've brought them. No one can help me through this complicated life of mine as I don't even know what's wrong with me! LOL. Anyway, it's good to know that someone on Earth is leading a better from now on, at least, he'll feel better within.

既然是一張中文專輯，我想我應該用中文來表達我對這張專輯的看法。相信大家對王力宏的音樂可以說是耳熟能詳了，在＜心跳＞這張專輯裡面並沒有太大的改變。裡頭有多元化的曲風，和以往一樣的是，王力宏都會在專輯裡面灌唱一些中國風的曲路。很可惜的是裡頭並沒有很多那些聽了便能琅琅上口的歌。

如果和先前那些很大氣的歌比起來的話更是有一段距離。像之前的＜Ｆｏｒｅｖｅｒ　Ｌｏｖｅ＞，＜唯一＞，等等，如果你喜歡這種路線的歌，你可要失望了！裡頭最接近的應該就是＜腳本＞，但是，礙於曲風的編法，我總是覺得缺了些甚麼的。。。不信的話，你自己聽聽看。我要先聲明，並不是不好聽，而是不順暢。

Mitch Albom- Have a Little Faith (No one does it better than Mitch)

Yes and indeed, no one does it better than Mitch Albom! When it comes to interacting with people and capturing the best moment or rather the most touching moment, Mitch Albom is the best!

"Have a Little Faith" is definitely good if not better than "Tuesday with Morrie". This is a book where you will ask questions such as, "Is it possible of any intention that the God of our religion wants us to discriminate against the Gods of the other religion?", "Is it possible for a man whom most think that he's hopeless is genuinely good from within?", "Does God really exist? Then why has God let 'things' happened in our lives?", "Who are the people who truly love us and we have been hurting them and taking them for granted at times?".

There are many questions initially but there are more answers that are easily available upon the completion of the book. I do think that this is a very good learning journey for most readers, including myself, who have forgotten about their roots and belonging and at times, detest the encounters they faced in life. There will be occasions where people literally threw God of their respective religion out of their mind when they are sailing on a streak and would eventually turn to God when they have crashed and burnt. Personally, I do think that the many aspects that have been covered in this book are relevant to my life where there are parts which I do feel bitter and hence retaliated against it. I have done significant damages to my own life and the others. The irony is that it is almost impossible for people to tell us that we are wrong and we should change for the better but we do know that we're wrong deep within ourselves. It's the reading process which has provided a personal space for self-reflection and less defense and denial that we are able to face ourselves. How pathetic it is? Sigh. I have gotten some good answers for the questions above, have you?

Go read the book with an open mind and you will notice how amazing it can lead you to know the other side of yourself. Everyone needs that moment, a moment of truth and honesty, a moment of feeling that it's alright to be weak and be wrong, a moment of seeing that there's always hope.

I do hope Mitch Albom will carry on writing books of such, not that I am cursing the people around him to approach death earlier so that they could him to inspire us, the readers, but we can't deny the fact that he has glorified the people who has left with dignity and, in a way, heroic. Most people would have died weak and wither away in the stage of their, but the connection that Mitch Albom have with them have made the last stage of their lives an important part of the lives of the living, including mine.

Rate: 9/10 (for being that inspiring that gotten me to look within myself.)

Patricia Cornwell- The Scarpetta Factor

Finally! I've gotten the chance to start and complete writing on my opinion for the 17th book of the Dr. Kay Scarpetta Series by Patricia Cornwell. However, it's not going to be full of praise I should warn the die-hard fans out there. LOL. I'm a big fan of the series, otherwise, I won't be reading till the 17th book.

It's a book where you've got to love to hate. LOL. Think it's time that Patricia Cornwell take a step back to think about how she will 'nurture' her characters in the series. Kay is beyond wisdom and great while the extraordinary niece of hers, Lucy, has grown into an almost perfect character, other than being lesbian, is rich and intelligent. Benton is almost disposable as he gets older and a little emotional in handling his relationship with Kay. Marino is losing his humor and very occupied in finding a new 'hole' to screw in. (It's a little crude, but that's coming from a person who has read the very 1st book till the 17th, you to understand the agony within).

The initial part was slow and dry, which will be unfair for any new reader out there to use this book as a benchmark for judging the series. I could forget the thrill and excitement of the "Postmortem". It was real, exciting and the balance between Kay's work and her personal life is perfect. I missed those days where Rose was still around (Kay's secretary) and I still think that that is the best way of revealing the soft side of a strong woman like Kay instead of getting emotional and paranoid in "The Scarpetta Factor".

The body was a complicated entanglement between Kay and Benton; Kay and Lucy, Kay and Carly Crispin (which proven to be insignificant but a bitch at the end). There's too much PR and HR in it which I strongly think that it has deviated from its early style of presentation. Please don't let it go down like some other authors whom-i-shall-not-mention (clue: the richest author, at least through fiction books. LOL) when they decide to chunk out more quantity than quality. I don't think it's doomsday for the Kay Scarpetta series, I just hope it will be closer to what "Postmortem" has presented in the past. I have hope for the next episode, hopefully it'll be a turnaround like the books of who-i-shall-not-mention. LOL

There's still some mild excitement towards the end when things began to pick up its pace. The only thing that's worth celebrating would probably be the death of the Chadonne's diabolical and dysfunctional descendant.

Overall, I'll be giving a rating....

Rate: 5.5/10 (I'm sorry, but I really had high hope for this episode which has turned out to be a disappointment)

Glee: The Music Season 1; Volume 1

Guys, start getting your copy of this compilation from the stores now! LOL. Yes, this is good, REAL GOOD! If you haven't watch Glee, I'm so sorry that you're like SO YESTERDAY?! There are reasons why this series has won the Golden Globe. Firstly, it isn't some corny relationships that we have seen in.. er.. er-hem. (you'll know the show with the Z-guy and V-gal acted, LOL). It's mind blowing, and I really think that there are couple of them who can really sing! Some of which I thought they sounded better than the original artiste. I'm sorry, I know that must have hurt a little given the many singers out there whose songs are on the compilation. LOL.

There's a wide range of song choices on this record, (duh? what's a compilation for?) and the good thing is that it's hard to pick out something that sucks which very unlike the normal records where we normally connect with a few songs and the other nonsensical.

I'm rating this as a compilation album, and it has a pretty decent score...

Rate: 8.5/10 (I haven't overrate the album, most often, I've underrated them. LOL)

One of the outstanding newcomer that isn't derive from the Idol family, Jason Derulo. If you want some soul and RnB style of music, this will be one record you have to get your hands on. Jason Derulo can definitely sing anything and make it work. He would be those whom Randy Jackson normally says on American Idol, "Dude, you can sing the phone book and make it work!" LOL.

The above is the album cover. One of the almost-overplayed-song will be In My Head (I'm sorry that the video isn't avail anymore. LOL)

Overall, this will be an album worth buying, but it kinda get a little tired of listening to when you keep it running for some time. The irony thing is that we criticize artiste who had over diversified and at the same time, we criticize artiste who had chosen a path that's too safe and narrow (think I'm beginning to sound like AI, LOL). However, Jason Derulo does work to a certain extend. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he wouldn't be doing the same genre for the next few albums.

I have just gotten the maps of Assassin's Creed (both 1 and 2) and Fallout 3. I just can't play such games properly without the aid of a map! LOL.

One of my friends called me, when he read about it from my Twitter status, below was the conversation:

Jeff: Yo! Are you nuts? Laminating game maps? It must have cost quite an amount!

ME: It's just me and my dear habits of keeping things clean and tidy. I'll need to mark out the areas on the map but I not ready to destroy it, hence, lamination is the best solution. Furthermore, it's only about SGD$100.00 to maintain the longevity of the maps.

Jeff: Can't believe what ears are hearing! Do you know that you could have gotten another new game with that amount? Are you sure that your Obsessive-Compulsive-Disorder (OCD) isn't getting worse?

ME: Firstly, I'm slightly OCD. Secondly, there isn't another game that I wanna for the time being.

Jeff: You're missing the point... nevermind...

Then we drifted off to some other issues.

The whole idea is to extend the lifespan of the maps. I just can't bear to bring my hands to destroy and mark out the coordinates with reference to the items that I've gotten and accomplished on the map itself. I'm pretty sure that this isn't OCD (this is meant for you, Jeff! LOL), it's just the GOOD habits of taking care of things you cherish.

Anyway, I've got to go for now. I've to prepare for tomorrow's lesson (with neighbors), many scripts to mark from the revision session that I've just conducted in the afternoon. Oh man... I wonder when will I find the time to get back to the books that I'm rushing to complete and the games that I've started playing. LOL.

Little gloomy, partly due to the pathetic iPhone camera and the insufficient of daylight (it's about 5 in the afternoon)

Felt like stabbing myself for not bringing the camera along, but it was never in the itinerary of that day. LOL

Final Fantasy XIII- Boring Beginning with Exponential Excitement that Follows behind!

I have started on Final Fantasy XIII and I'm still in the middle of it! The honest opinion from me is that, the initial part is boring me to death, and I am referring to the battle scheme which wouldn't require much other than punching in the 'O' button till it almost got jammed! LOL, However, the storyline never fails to captivate people to watch it through.

Game play difficulty is definitely on the exponential side of increasing difficulty. There some boss, which I had tried to attack without any help of guidebook and internet resources, took me eons before I see the logic of the battle. I'm kinda trying to get used to the battle system which allows different character to swap into different roles in order to complete the fights.

The 3 best games of the year? Highly possible!

It's getting more interesting and frustrating at the same time. I'm not worried as my guidebooks are on their way, then it's time to conquer the game the proper way! Hahaha! I'll keep posting updates as I make MARGINAL progress in the game. LOL

Star Ocean: The Last Hope (International) - It's not gonna be easy!

I have devoted most of my time in completing Heavy Rain that I've left the other games untouched or have them installed and carried on with Heavy Rain. LOL. Anyway, I completed the tutorial of Star Ocean: The Last Hope and I am pretty sure that it isn't going to be an easy game to complete. This is partly due to the previous experience of playing Star Ocean: Till the End of Time of PlayStation2 which has proven to be a game that will literally take forever, that i've given up hope on completing the game! LOL.

The tutorial was pretty much technical stuff such as 'Blindside' attack and so on. Therefore, I'm quite sure that I might need to go over the whole tutorial again when it's its turn for me to complete. First impression, it has certainly given me the vibes of what a Star Ocean game is like and it's very distinctive. Still, I won't be able to judge on the overall game play as I've yet to complete and I'm still waiting for my guidebooks that I've bought from Amazon.com to arrive. It definitely had me started on a neutral-positive note giving me the idea that it wouldn't be easy to complete.

I'll be updating more when I'm done with the game!

Dante's Inferno- First Impression? Good!

I've gotten Dante's Inferno the day when I was hanging out with ML. It's definitely a good game, as I've previously tried the demo on PlayStationNetwork (PSN) before deciding that it's a game worth buying. I shall not be rating the game for time being as i think it's only fair to give my opinion and judgement when I've completed the game.

The version that I've gotten is a Region 3, Asia version which they called it the 'Death Edition' (I don't know why but it's written like that on the cover). Here are some of the pictures of the purchase of mine:

The Hurt Locker- Well Deserved for being the Best Picture!

The Hurt Locker is well-deserved of winning of the Best Picture in the Oscar. It's definitely a mind-blown experience watching the movie. I've watch the movie with Edwin Ong, the other day since he hasn't watch it and wanted to catch the movie. It has brought back certain memories from the 'Days of being Green' though most of you would have known by know that I was with the well-taken-care-showered-with-love-and-excess-concern Company. LOL.

One of my favourite line in the movie will be the last part, where James (played by Jeremy Renner) told his son, "When you are young, you loved everything. But when you reached my age, there might be only one or two left." And for James, it's 'fixing' bombs. Perhaps that's the reason that kept him going.

At some point of the movie, I did wonder whether his passion has compromised the safety of his comrades. It difficult to make such call especially when you're at war in hostile land. Certain scenario would require you to be more selfish and determined in order to get things done. However, over-passionate in your vocation can bring about the much detested and annoyance of teammates. This is true to a certain extent in work life that you might choose to shut up and hold on to what you believed in doing. It's pretty pointless in explaining and you end up being engulfed by the overwhelming objection you received around you. Prognostication isn't available neither would procrastination save your ass. If it turns out otherwise, you've just got to suck it all in and move on. This is life.

This is why I think The Hurt Locker is definitely not a solely war-based movie but a movie that reflects on multiple level of decision making we faced in life. People who doesn't like to think too much might not like this movie, just like what Edwin came to conclusion in the end. However, people who love thinking and enjoy the thrill and danger, be it in life or combat, will love the movie. It shouldn't be surprising that this movie has won the Best Picture and Best Director since the Oscars has hardly award such honour to action-packed and comedy related movie.

There is one thing that I didn't like about the movie is the stability of the image. It's very shaky, though I know it's to mimic the running and bumpy situation of the actual scene. However, it's quite disturbing when you're watching it through the limited forward view in the cinema.

Overall, I'm giving...

rating: 9/10

Despite that shaky scenes, it's my type of movie in the first place. It didn't 'wow' me like Avatar's images and technology but it did make me believe of what it was trying to express through the movie: Tough decision making process and the struggle in believing your own choice. It's must watch for those who really give some thoughts about their lives. You shouldn't watch if you don't give a shit about your life and you just want to catch something that you would laugh your ass off or you loved action-packed-filled movies (such as Transformers 2).

Heavy Rain- It's Simply AMAZING!

This is one of the games that i've managed to complete recently. And yes, it is a big deal for me to complete a game, since I would normally lose interest in the middle of the game and leave it on the cold shelves. I'm sorry, cold games (inspired from Cold Case) LOL. Anyway, the main thing is, Heavy Rain isn't one of those. In fact, it's in the running of the most amazing game that I've played in 2010. However, it's inconclusive since the year is still running. LOL.

The game is titled Heavy Rain after the nature of the crime in it. The serial killer has the habit of locking kids in some enclosed drainage pipe which will be complete covered after some 6 inches of heavy rainfall. Hence, everyone involved is rushing against time to make sure that Shaun is saved before he's drown in 72 hours.

It's a story about a father (Ethan) trying to save his son (Shaun) from a serial killer, the Origami Killer and has to overcome many trials and obstacles in the process. You basically get to control 4 main characters in the storyline which resort to different ways of finding clues and and evidence to lead them to Shaun. Norman Jayden is the FBI profiler, Madison is the Journalist while Scott Shelby is the Private Investigator. These characters will develop along with Ethan and in process we, the players, have to make decision on what to choose or where to go.

This is definitely a game that will send your heart racing like stuff when you're asked whether you're willing to cut off the last section of your finger in order to save Shaun, I shan't reveal who is being tasked to do that and real identity of the killer, it would simply spoil the fun out of it.

In conclusion, Heavy Rain is a game that you must play in 2010 or you will regret deeply. The thrill and excitement that it brings along it's overwhelmingly great. Don't believe it? Try it. Then you'll tell me what you do not like about the game. LOL

Tears of JOY!!! (LOTS OF IT! LOL)

I'll keep this short, at least I'll try as I'm critically deprived of sleep for now. LOL. I have met up with ML to get back the book that I've lent her previously while lending her another new book. This is the reality of what will take place when your friend knows about the vast collection of books and has the personality of being 'FRUGAL', they will drop hints and bits here and there to get you to say, "If you want, I can always lend it to you since I've got other things on hand right now.". You bet, they will be beaming with joy and sinister laughter at their successful attempt of being 'FRUGAL'. LOL.

I arrived 5 minutes later than expected, which is a rare occasion when ML is the one who is normally late (ML, it is a fact!) had arrived earlier than expected (she ought to thank those idiots who were holding me down with an EXTREMELY boring meeting). When we had settled down, she told me that she had a bump against the display shelf at K*** Spade and had openly shared her agony by calling out a distinct "Owh!" (Thank God that I wasn't with her, would have chosen to walk away and acted as stranger when such event happened. LOL). I told her that she was over paranoid and she began dinning on her crepe while i sat there drinking my tea. I know this would make ML sounds like a glutton and me being the one with the 'IN' factor, I've got to be fair and say that, that was her dinner and she did encourage me to eat but I didn't.

The moment has arrived where it started the ball of laughters rolling. Believe me, you will never see another person doing this in real life; not even people like me who hang out with various 'genre' of friends have seen this before. The waitress came and presented the bill.

Waitress: Please sign.
(ML began signing)
Me: Where are you signing?
(ML had signed on the total amount instead of the usual initial area; waitress was wondering what went on and was looking at me for some answer.)
Me: I'm sorry, she had just signed on the "total amount" segment.
(Waitress gave me that stunned look, couldn't believe that someone hadn't sign on the initial area but somewhere else.)
Me: I'm sorry, I saw the dotted line and I thought there was where I should sign.
(Laughing with embarrassment, while I was laughing at the expression of the both of them- ML & waitress)

Looks like her prognostication wasn't that bad. The last series occurred when I kept telling her that her phone was a lousy till the point that she wouldn't reveal her 3rd phone within the 6 months period, claiming that my 'curse' was taking a toll on her pocket to keep replacing a 'working' mobile phone (till today, I still stand by my statement that she was carrying some lousy phoneS, hence, ended up changing phone that frequently, LOL). We decided to take a walk (to aid her digestion of her food) to somewhere to settle down and chill out. I recommended the TCC at POMO, beside the School of the Arts (SOTA) which I told ML when she was assuming that it was a hotel and she replied, "You mean SOTA Hotel?". I nearly fainted on that statement. We've gotten a good location where I could watch the activities going on at the Mixed Martial Art Studio. The food came and we had it split into portions between us (and she made me ate more Shrooms Garden than I should!).

This is the funny part, once again, that my tears were rolling down uncontrollably. She tried to use the fork and knife but without success. Then, she turned to the pathetic stirrer in the cup, and this is where I stopped her and cut the pieces of food up for here telling that it's a matter of making the food into bite size that's easily pick up by the fork. When I've lifted the food up, normally, anyone would have opened their mouth and finish up, but for ML, no. She began shaking her head, and this is when then food went falling off the fork like a suicide bomber rolling down... Pit Stop 1: the blouse; Pit Stop 2: the cardigan; Pit Stop 3: the pants; and Final Destination: the leg of the table as shown below...

Final Destination! (The beginning of my 'tears of joy' laughter! LOL)

It took a while before she realised what had happened. Oh Lord! When she reacted, contrary from feeling upset, I was laughing like mad and it was fueled by her ranting, "My blouse is white! This cardigan, though not exquisitely branded, but it's from ESPIRIT!!! And, IT WAS THE LAST PIECE!!!". I'm sorry ML, I know I shouldn't be laughing at things like such, but you were really funny, especially when you ended with something like, "I just know it! It's never a good thing to stay too close to you; that's why regardless of the many numbers that you have, they are filed under Nemesis 1, Nemesis 2, Nemesis 3 and so on."

I'm not her nemesis. It's just that she has always landed herself into some hilarious role that send me laughing and make my day. I'm sorry that my happiness and the rare 'tears of joy' is built on your embarrassment, but I do think it's worth it as there isn't many around that could see me laughing till that extend. LOL.

Green Day- 21st Century Breakdown, Michael Bublé- Crazy Love

I've gotten 2 record albums on the second day of Lunar New Year, which was mentioned in the previous entry. I'm gonna start with Green Day's latest album, 21st Century Breakdown, first.

I haven't really been a big fan of Green Day when they started off with American Idiot. Here, listen for yourself and maybe you might see the reason why I wasn't a big fan of them (you may disagree with me)

Then, they caught my attention when they had performed at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Award at Berlin. I thought there is some maturity in their music and it's definitely heading a different direction as compared to the time where they were doing American Idiot, which is a good thing! Below is "Know Your Enemy" which is recorded in the latest album, it's good!

After that, I decided that it's gonna be a worthwhile album to purchase and I'm right. I totally love the song "21 Guns"!

They've nailed it! I believe other than the theatrical "American Idiot", "21 Guns" will be the most impressionable song they've produced to date!

This is the part of the lyrics of "21 Guns" which I love most:

Everyone has the chance of experiencing breakdown and pain. I do think it's a matter of whether we're dealing it right rather than wallowing in our own pathetic room. Overall, i think this is a great album with many great songs written.

Next, it's Michael Bublé's "Crazy Love". This is the first Buble's album that I have gotten. I have previously heard of his songs at my friend's place, "Me and Mrs Jones". It is a great song for relaxing and at times, it'll get you in the mood of removing your babe's clothes, drawing your fingers along her arms, touching her hair and enjoying the moment of her existence... I'm sorry, think I've got a little carried away! LOL. But, you guys will get what I mean, those jazzy-blue kind of rhythm simply set the mood and atmosphere for many 'great things' to come. LOL

This is the trailer for "Crazy Love".

When he said "... I wanna feel it..", I was like "feel my ass!". I think he's previous album is better than the current one. Even the music video isn't as appealing as before. There are a couple of reasons that have contributed to this conclusion, I guess. I sense some sugar-pop-idol stuff on the music video, that I would rather hear the lead female sing the phonebook than to watch him in the video. One thing that we have to understand is that, not everyone can throw in the Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, David Archuleta style of shooting a music video. Time is a ruthless weapon that wouldn't hesitate to show it's prowess on your face. I would rather prefer the black and white style of what he did in "Me and Mrs Jones". I think it's classic and it matches his voice.

On the good side would be his voice. It's still easily distinguished from the throngs of artists in the industry which is why, I do think that it should do too bad on the sales figures. I believe that Michael Buble does have his LOYAL fan base supporting him judging from his previous record albums sales record and there ain't many that sings like he does today.

In conclusion, it's a fact that he does sings well and it's worth buying if you have the spare cash and LOVED to see Michael Buble trying something different, something out of his comfort zone.

What are FRIENDS for?!

This is one of the entries that I have been holding back on posting on my blog. I am going to relate what I was going through on the second day of Lunar New Year. As the title suggests, it has to do with 'people' around me. Just as I was wondering whether I should post this entry, I saw a friend of mine suggesting me to be a fan of "Trust Takes Years to Built, Seconds to Break". An irony? Maybe. A statement of truth? TOTALLY.

The second day of Lunar New Year was nothing but seeing different people coming over to my place, small talks and patronizing routine of asking the lives of each other and wishing each other all the best. I have never liked impromptu situation when things are packed and scheduled way before it happens. Someone called asking whether it will be possible to come by our place, my mum said YES without giving any thoughts. I was totally exhausted for the day and i didn't want to see anyone that I have to constantly entertain when I simply know nothing about the whatever-topic that will be brought up (ML, it's not the group of people that you might be speculating when you are reading till this point, it's just some friends of my mum).

I began to scroll through the phonebook on my phone. I called my 'Favourite' list (I am using the iPhone) with those that I have high hopes of getting me out of such situation. There are a few, but I won't be naming these people in this entry, as some point in time, it might sound like castigation and I won't want the others who are reading this to cast them in a bad light just because of my own experience and opinion. W, X, Y and Z they shall be in this entry. W and X will be on the top of the list to call for help but W is always the preferred choice as our friendship has gone way back where we have been through ups and downs since my national service days; hence, the best choice to approach first.

ME: Yoz, I'm gonna need some help. Are you available to get involve in "Operation Saving Jeremy"?
W: Tired. Can't get enough sleep. What about X?
ME: (Hurt and disappointed but decided to play on) Ok. I'll call X and let you know in a while.

X is one whom I had 'saved' the previous LNY when he was stuck in a situation where he was more than glad to be 'saved'. I thought he would be empathetic of the plight that I was facing.

ME: Hey, are you able to meet up?
X: I'm outside with someone.
ME: Any chance that you will be able to make it later?
X: No. Why so sudden?
ME: (trying to explain the situation)... erm..
X: I got to go, talk to you again.
(the line was dead)

I should have see that coming. However, I tried to attempt another disappointing request.

ME: Hey, X said that he's out and he can't meet up today. Will you be able to come out soon, just need to hang out somewhere.
X: I'm tired. I can suggest a location for you to hang out but I'm really tired. And I don't feel like going out.
ME: Ok. I'll try to work it out. (Gave up hope at this point of time.)

I would be pointless to contact Y as he has always mentioned that he has to be home during LNY and past 2 years he has clearly shown he point of no able to get away during this period. As for Z, whom I have the least contact of all 4, had told me previously that he will be occupied with GF on the second day of LNY. (I can't be breaking them up for the sake of getting me out right?)

I began calling people that I have been meeting occasionally to see whether they would be kind enough to get me out, a few of them tried, I could hear them over the phone that one mum was saying, "No, we've just reached XXX place, you can't just leave like that." so, I took the initiative to tell them it's alright, I just wanted to do some catch up and it's fine since they were busy with visiting their relatives. (sort of regretted telling them that I was fine, when they were like asking "Are you sure you're ok? You want me to work something out? Just need a little more time to work it out."- I'm sorry that I have lied to you guys, I just felt embarrassed to have bothered you guys when I'm the one that hasn't been able to meet in the past due to work)

Just as I was getting ready to leave home, go somewhere which I had totally no idea at that point of time, I saw the red packet meant for Don and ML's wedding. It was sort of the last straw and the last people that I would want to meet during this period. I shall explain more later. I called ML and AMAZINGLY she said fine and asked me the time and location for meeting up (as usual, she's late! LOL). The only thing that she added behind is, "Will it be fine that Don comes along?". I was wondering whether it's fine but another voice of mine was like saying, "C'mon, what do you expect? You want her to ditch her husband at home with her in-law(s) and mum just to meet you?! It's too much.". Hence, I said, "Of course, I am more than fine to see him in person! Haven't got the chance to do so for eons!" (I know, I sound so fake at time point of revelation. Can't believe that I'm even pouring this out! LOL)

I had chosen something casual and grabbed my shades as I didn't want anyone to discuss about my emotions on that day itself. I know that I have been good in concealing my emotions most of the time, but that was a time that I didn't want to 'act' and decided that the shades were the best forms of disguise. I called a cab and remained quiet for the rest of the trip to Paragon. i thought about many things. i thought about the incident that nearly destroyed many weird relationship with ML and the breakdown of the many years friendship with Don. I began to wonder whether I was committing myself into another seemingly mistake. Don has always been my BFF (it's Best Friend Forever, not Boyfriend!- meant for SOMEONE that will be reading this entry, LOL) till the incident where he had left me waiting one whole afternoon for a phone call to the supposedly meet up which had never occurred because he had slept through it. I don't think it was the incident itself that caused the breakdown on our decade old friendship. It's a combination of his personalities and with that fatal incident that was so detrimental, it had blown off the entire thing. ML was supposed to be the party whom I still hang out till the day that she tried to 'create' an opportunity for us to reconcile. It didn't happen. I couldn't recall the details, but ML was clearly aware that she did the wrong thing. That was the end, or almost the end. It was almost 2 years, I think, that I didn't contact ML and Don, deleted their names from my phonebook and I thought it was almost gone forever. It was until the day that one of my friend went into some trouble with his employees that I (owed him a favour) had to go digging into all records to find ML number. I actually stared into the handset for more than an hour before deciding to make that phone call. Looking back, I am glad that I have made that phone call after some 2 years. (ML, correct me if I am wrong)

ML, as usual, brightened up my day by saying that my purpose of meeting up with her and Don was to manifest the extravagant life that I am leading in contrast to her frugal life. (wait till you see how she had phrased it, you'll laugh your lungs out, LOL) Then, she took out an Ang Pow when I was jokingly asking her for it (as she's MARRIED- a blessing for the rest of the men, LOL) and immediately, she reached into her seemingly fake Coach bag for the an Ang Pow (from seven-eleven) while looking at Don saying, "See? I told you that he will be asking for his share of Ang Pow, thank goodness that I've come prepared!" with the proud expression as if she had correctly predicted the outcome of the lottery numbers. LOL. Laughing matter aside, I was glad to see that she was happy to receive the Ang Pow that I've prepared for her and Don which had their names and my blessings printed on it (till today, she remains skeptical that I was the one that had prepared the Ang Pow while digging out some embarrassing moment of me not knowing where to paste the postage stamp to convince Don that it was highly possible that the Ang Pow wasn't prepared by me, LOL).

We had later walked along Orchard Road and ended up at the bar. We had a good time there (except fot the part where ML kept insisting that I was using some cosmetic foundation which I didn't- stop being jealous of my good complexion! LOL) and it's good to be yourself for a while though I was actually exhausted.

Does friendship has a shelf life? Does it expire? Is it seasonal (as referred to Don and ML and myself)? At times, I do think that my relations with friends are somehow dramatic and unpredictable, but there is one thing for sure, that's the Favourite list on my iPhone has gone through some reshuffling again. As of who's in and who's out, you will know.

Lady GaGa- The Fame Monster, Taylor Swift- Fearless

I haven't gotten some new album for some time. I was watching MTV and immediately, something caught my attention.

Found the exact MV that I've watch on YouTube. It's "You Belong With Me" from Taylor Swift. I have to be honest here, I didn't really like those 'sugar pop' style of music, but while watching her MV, I noticed that there is this realism in her music. It's a clear depiction of what most of us have went through when we were in high school or even college. When we had a crush in someone and we didn't really dare to say it out or the time wasn't right most of the time. However, one thing that I am pretty sure is that, not everyone can be the 'girl' in the MV being loved and made the right choice in the end. Most of us would have just let the crush die within us and move on while getting married with someone that we had least expected (or never expected) to be with while we were young. LOL.

The next one would be Lady Gaga. I am not loading any link over here as the MV and song of Bad Romance has been playing like mad on MTV channel and on radio. Overall, I would say that the whole album is very THEATRICAL! Duh? LOL. But she does have certain amount of talent that show. Firstly, she not dumb, I've checked it out on Wiki and it stated that she had previously attended NYU which she has latter withdrew due to the commitment on her music career.

Secondly, we need someone which is long overdue since Madonna to be leading the new edgy trend. It's not that Madonna isn't up for the job anymore (I'm a strong supporter of Madonna), it's better to bring in competition and diversification (I can sense the economical me screaming to voice his view). Anyway, Lady Gaga is good at what she is doing and I'm pretty sure she's here to stay, did i mentioned that her performance with Sir Elton John at the Grammy Award is simply stunning? ARMANI EXCHANGE, LEVI'S, Ben Sherman- Did I Mention SHOPPING SPREE?

Chinese New Year is around the corner. Hence, the need to get Ang Pow (red packets) money for distribution. Of course, I won't be the one distributing (only the married ones are allowed to do so) and those who are eligible, please don't forget about mine! (That include those who are stalking my blog entries and they know that they are eligible to give me my Ang Pow. LOL)

I have gotten a few clothes to get ready for the coming Lunar New Year. As the title has stated, they are from Armani Exchange, Levi's and Ben Sherman. Below are the pictures of the items that I've bought:

Apple iPad or Kindle DX?

After some LONG speculation, Apple has finally released the iPad. Though it's arrival is embedded with lots of controversy, like Fujitsu claiming ownership to the use of 'iPad' and some Chinese tech-replica manufacturers stating that they had long came out with the design of selling it in the market using Microsoft software as support, the iPad is undoubtedly the next most wanted gadget on most people's 'Wishlist'.

The main attention of releasing a multi-purpose touch-screen tablet is probably trying to share the high revenue that Amazon.com has been experiencing for the past few year through the sales of Kindle and Kindle DX; not forgetting the high revenue from eBooks that Amazon has sold till date. Just take note that Amazon.com has sold more eBooks in the past Christmas than physical books. Hence, get the story? - A LOT OF MONEY IN INVOLVED!!! In addition to the high profit margin that could be generated through the gadget (which I seriously don't think that it has the HIGH profit margin) or the complement good- the eBooks (which i think it's the ONE selling with HIGH profit margin), Apple would like to re-emphasize that position as a trend setter for IT gadgets. I have chosen the word 're-emphasize' instead of 'establish' due to the fact of the great success that Apple has brought about through its iPods and iPhones. Apple has also mentioned that this would be a revolutionary experience to most people who thought they knew it all about Tablet PC. It's going to integrate reading books, watching television programs and movies, listening to music and the access to the internet, all in one portable device.

Kindle DX on the other hand, is a product that has sole and clear purpose- reading. The famous 16 shades of grey and being easy on our eyes and its lightness is simply amazing. Below are the facts that I have consolidated for reference:

Kindle DX is better in being slimmer and lighter than the Apple iPad. However, it can't provide the capability of what Apple iPad can and it doesn't allow any form of external memory storage. On the other hand, Apple iPad though being heavier, and thicker than the Kindle DX, it's providing 3 different variants of flash storage with captivating colored screen. In addition, the iPad is a multi-function tablet other than using it for reading.

In conclusion, I seriously don't think these 2 products are comparable. Firstly being that, most avid readers will be happy with the large collection of eBooks that Amazon.com is providing and are able to live without the brilliant colour so long they have the portability of the device (and yes they have, Kindle DX is lighter). While die-hard IT gadget fans will get both, Apple fanatics like me will buy whatever Apple produces. LOL. Let's face it, it's good looking and it's cool to have one! LOL. Therefore, you can't compare one that is made with such precise objective in mind to one that is made to bring the portable device to the next level of interaction. At least, this is what I think.

Leukocytosis

Yes, the name mentioned in the title is the condition that I'm experiencing. In layman's term, it's just elevated white blood cells. Hence, think you guys should know by now that I'm sick and there's is something else other leukemia that's related to white blood cells.

Although it may indicate illness, Leukocytosis is considered a laboratory finding rather than a separate disease. In simpler term, it's simply saying that this 'thing' is a ripple effect of 'something' else (like some other diseases); like a fever can represent many things, it could be infection, viral, cancer and many other more. Hence, it's difficult to determine what's the main cause when the source is yet to be found.

I'm not too worry. I leaving it to the hands of the divine source but some people might not be too happy about it. LOL

One such person that I could think of would be the ONE (yes, just one, as the other one wouldn't mind that much of my absence, LOL) that is getting married this coming Saturday and I've previously given my word to attend. My clothes are ready, and I was supposed to go in Armani together with Calvin Klein accessories. I will put up pictures of them when the event is over as a form of respect and a gesture of apology to ML for not being able to attend. Till the white blood count gets lower, i'm not supposed to go anywhere except the hospital which is necessary due to the critical stage I'm in, or stay home (duh? my room is mostly sterilized and that includes my bathroom) when I'm slightly better.

I have faith that I will get better, and I shall take this as an opportunity to read more and play less of my PlayStation 3 games. LOL

iPhone Perforated Snap Case by Incase- NEW CLOTHES FOR MY IPHONE!

All 'thanks' to Gabe that I am spending again! LOL. But, seriously, I guess I have to thank him for letting know that there is something trendy for my already-hurt-iPhone. LOL. Gabe has recently gotten this new iPhone case from the U.S and it's cool for various reasons:

It's isn't available in Singapore yet! (Yes, this is an important factor to be leading the trend!)
It's unique and original, unlike the the hideous silicon case.
It gives my iPhone some non-invasive plastic surgery! LOL

Below are the pictures of how it would look like and when I get my hands on it (it's on the way with the courier, supposed to be here on this coming Thursday!):

I'm pretty sure that my iPhone will be happy over this make over. As for the actual cost of this product, I will only know when the credit card bill is here. I will keep you guys updated, meanwhile, I'll get myself prepared to shed some light on the next 'IN' thing for an event on next Saturday evening!

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves; I HAVE FINALLY COMPLETED!!!

Have you guys watch National Treasure starring Nicholas Cage? If you haven't, are you sure that you have been staying on Earth for the past few years and weren't abducted by some weird aliens to Mars or some funny planet? LOL. The whole idea of bring that movie in as an introduction is to save the time in describing the nature of the game.

"Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" is a game that is very similar to the movie National Treasure but with more excitement and wonders (duh? otherwise, who would want to spend money on it?). However, I should remind you guys that this is a game where it would take A LOT OF DETERMINATION to get through.

Firstly, the trophies system on PlayStation Network (PSN) is freaking anal and difficult to score. Seriously, if you are working or studying, I wouldn't even advise you to start till you're on school holiday or leave. You know the kind of games where you have to clock 100 'headshots' in the midst of gun fire and keeping yourself alive? How on earth can that be possibly done? Therefore, that pretty much explains why I've only completed 50% of the trophies on the list (better as compared to Little Big Planet- 38%) at the end of the game.

Secondly, there are some weird guardians (I'll label them as monsters) that couldn't differentiate between intruders that are going to protect them and intruders that are friendly and are there to protect them. In addition, they are such longevity creatures that they aren't dead at the shots of gunfire! In a situation where you are trying to stay alive from enemies and those 'guardians' who cares about trophies and medals anymore? LOL. Phrases such as "WTF, SOB..." and many others are frequent throughout the game. At times, you've even got the intention of tearing the television apart (that's more of a euphemism)

Now, the good things about this game. This is a game where you will believe in what you are playing for. The historical background and details of various combination from religion and explorer's journal made it convincing and would lead you to hold it out till the end to find out what has happened. Trust me, I haven't played a game that I am so touched and glad that I have the honour of playing it. Not even when I've played the God of War, which resulted in blisters on my thumb. In fact, it would be quite unfair to compare them across the board like that when the 2 products are far apart in terms of space, theme and time.

The jokes and the humour are captivating. At one point of the game, I was thinking "How on earth did they come out with such jokes like, 'Hi, I'm Elena, the 'yesterday model', 'Good, that would mean I wouldn't have to take off my top'. These day-to-day jokes made the game REAL. You'll laugh and swear along with the progress of the game. Sometimes, one might be touched to shed a few tears. LOL.

In conclusion,

Do get this game, if you are one that likes about storyline in cooperated with historical background with some humor and jokes to accompany you along the way and at the same time, you are one who likes the anal difficulty and would have the perseverance of completing it.

Don't get the game if you are one who hated history as a subject, detest customizing weapons to optimize game play and to survive at times, you're a sore loser and has a history of the use of violence and lastly, your television isn't covered under your current insurance, nah, just kidding for the insurance part. LOL

My New Watch! G-Shock G7800B

I've gotten a new watch on the day where I met Gabriel, Edwin and later HW. It was supposed to be an helping-hand-day. I shan't go into the details as it would infringe the privacy of my friends and I am pretty sure that they won't be happy about it. LOL.

I've given Edwin his belated birthday present. I've almost ran out of idea before I derived at the idea of giving him an Adidas sling bag (or rather pouch) and a Prints notebook with black paper and white pen. He's a big fan of Adidas and it was a 'safe option' but it would be very much predictable, hence, it has been spice up a little with the Prints accessories. (I know you will be reading this Ed, so, this is the reason for the combination).

Before we (Gabriel and I) went to get his birthday present (Gabe has given him another present of what he thought Ed will like) I felt lost without my watch, especially on a day where there are so many things that would require time reference. Therefore, I told Gabe that I needed to get myself a watch before I can proceed with the rest of the day. I went to the G-Factory and this is what I have gotten!

Mum is not going to be too happy about it. I could have predicted her reply for my pretext of getting this watch, like "You mean you're going to get a new car when you've forgotten to bring your car keys out in the future? You can't be spending money like that... ..." I would probably be hallucinating when she's in the middle of it. LOL.

Anyway, this is a cool watch to begin with. Firstly, the dark background is what that attracted me to get this watch in the first place. I wanted something chic but casual and presentable. The uniform color of black fits in the requirement that I have set! Given it a try and told the sales rep that I love it, hence, I'm getting it. Gabe was saying that I should have gotten the white strap with the purple background ("what on earth are you thinking!" was the initial response to the suggestion).

It's a good watch with a down side. The down side would be the vulnerable surface of the metallic border. I simply have to be extra careful when I am wearing it.

Think one thing that it's in confirmation is that, when Gabe and I are together, it will be spending time and we won't hesitate while shopping for things and stuff. Bad combination I guess? LOL

風聲

這不是我第一次以中文來表達我對事物的看法和意見。無可否認的是，這的確有的不習慣。今天，我剛看完了＜風聲＞。除了稱讚還是稱讚，讓人不禁為中文電影嘆為觀止。

記得有一次在看＜康熙來了＞，小Ｓ曾提到：＂＜風聲＞裡頭的演員已經不是在用肉體在演戲，而是在用靈魂表達和詮釋劇中的人物。＂當時，我還在想：＂真的假的？會不會垮張一點？＂現在，看了電影後，我不得不承認，這的確是我看過的中文電影裡最好的著品。說他比好萊塢片細緻，實在是有過之而無不及。

演員非常入戲，看了不時會讓人感到驚悚和緊張。戲裡頭的李冰冰和周迅的演技和情感更是不在話下。李冰冰的角色，絕對是個大突破。我記得第一次看到她演戲時，是在＜決戰紫禁之巔＞。當時，實在沒看好李冰冰在日後的著品會有很好的發展，但是，＜風聲＞讓我對她嘆為觀止。天啊！這是當年如假包換的李冰冰嗎？真是不敢相信！周迅對我而言就是維持她以往的水準，比沒有太大的突破或反差。這話並沒有任何貶抑，而是讚賞她精湛的演技。

故事劇情環環相扣，只要錯過任何一節，你一定感到錯愕。戲裡頭的’老鬼’和’老槍’不時讓我感到頭痛。到底是誰啊？我也不想破壞你看這部戲的樂趣，暫且不透露。

我開始認為，很多時候我們並不知道我們身邊的人是否信得過。我們所認為的好朋友，真的是好朋友嗎？還是純粹是互相利用的關係？我相信很多時候，這只是一線之隔。所謂：人心隔肚皮，永遠的朋友更是遙不可及。直到死亡為人生畫下了句點，我們才真正的知道此人是敵或是友。這麼說來人生不是可悲至極了嗎？人生的喜劇是微乎其微，而悲劇卻是層出不窮。翻開報紙一看，溫馨的畫面有多少，令人心寒的畫面又有多少？這並不意味著所有的人都必須過這生不如死和水深火熱的生活。這只不過顯示了真正的幸福快樂的人生是往內心尋覓，而不是物慾上的滿足。哇！怎麼變得如此充滿文學哲理啊？！總之，＜風聲＞的確是一部好著品，一部值得支持的中文電影。

What I Thought I Knew- Alice Cohen

I don't know whether my condition has any effect on my choices of books. In fact, I've noticed that I'm more into memoirs and biography related reading materials lately.

What I Thought I Knew is a book written to describe the life of an unprepared mother who has had the intention of getting pregnant while she was younger but didn't succeed. Hence, the pregnancy came as a form of obstacles for herself, her adopted daughter and her husband.

Nothing is taken for granted and nothing is predictable at the same time. In the case of Alice Cohen, it was clearly that she has a lot of things to overcome when she is under high stress of being a mother and her insurance didn't cover the necessary medical expenses. In addition, she was presented that her baby might have certain disability and was difficult to determine the exact gender of it had made it difficult for her to live happily through her pregnancy. The different opinion of the destiny of the baby is another heated topic between her husband and herself (she didn't want the baby initially after incessant amount of negative diagnoses). Life is turned upside down. Things got much worse when her husband pay got marginalized when a big client (such an Enron) has lost the ability to keep his payroll going. No one would have expected such huge turnaround in life when they were spending their holidays in Italy during the initial stage of her pregnancy which she was unaware of.

After reading her book, I began to think of my own life. "It isn't too bad, I guess?" I thought, as I glance through the medical appointments that have been schedule for me. At least, I've gotten a fulfilled life (not that I'll be dying soon) and have a wide range of experience which many would die for to experience my life. A shareholder of a tuition organisation (can't believe it has evolved so much from the days where it was still called a tuition center? LOL), a student of Law school on sabbatical leave, and a wonderful working experience with an well-established bank which has taught me and given me the precious skills for investment. Honestly speaking, though health is experiencing some hiccups right now, I'm pretty much financially stable so long as I don't buy another new property or commit myself into some sports-car craze. LOL. I have done some calculation and I'm pretty sure that I could probably go on for a couple of years not working so long as I lead a THRIFTY lifestyle. Yes, the keyword is thrifty but the main point is: I am contented with what I have. At least for now! LOL.

I haven't sink this low in my life (I'm hoping that there won't be any lower portholes). I am surprised that I am taking all these in and I am moving on with hope and faith that it would get better in the near future. I am not optimistic by nature, in fact, many would agree that I'm quite a pessimist. I really appreciate the encouragement that friends have been giving me (I didn't want my family to over react, hence, the discretion). Laughter and joy and at times, some very heated arguments which we had laughed it off. At times, I can't help but to think that one has to go through some tough times in order to appreciate the 'good' that have going on around him. In the case of Alice Cohen, the unexpected pregnancy has definitely brought the family closer and tighter. At the same time, she appreciate life from a different perspective that she would never gain if this pregnancy hasn't occurred.

Please don't get the wrong idea and start getting people (whoever it might be) pregnant unexpectedly. The whole point being that crisis would enable one to understand and appreciate life better doesn't mean that one should go hunting for crisis (and trust me, your life would have plenty planned ahead of you). On the other hand, I am trying to lend someone the emotional support that I haven't been giving for a while. I've been giving help academically, financially and efficiently but not emotionally. This has presented me the chance where I can sit down to listen and empathize the issues that he/she was going through. I was surprised that I had never done this before! Perhaps of the hectic schedule that I was packed with, or maybe it has got to do with the main objective of being efficient, hence, all others aside. It feels... calm. I don't know why, but that's exactly how I really feel. No more urge to check out the emails on my BlackBerry and the text messages on my iPhone (in fact some of you have complained that my phone is as good as dead).

All in all, I'm learning to lead a different life and I'm enjoying the learning process. If you haven't, do find a chance to grab Alice Cohen book and sit down to think through a little. Trust me, it's worth much more than anything that you could think of; the precious time space for some self-reflection.

Guess this is one entry where the cynical me took the backseat (probably fell asleep).

Till then, I'm trying to finish reading the "Feds" book and the cynicism will be back. LOL

Finally, IT"S HERE!!! LOL. I'm pretty sure that I'm not one that can contain my excitement. Vpost, you shall be forgiven for the dumb reply that you have given me yesterday since you have fully redeem yourself by sending the stuff over today when I was at home! LOL. I really can't keep track of the number of financial related books that i have read recently... think this is really the X number of them...

What a great book to start with! It's definite great as a distraction from those finance related books...!

Isn't that pretty called paradoxical? Since i'm quite a big fan of Kindle except that it has STUBBORNLY refused itself to be shipped it to Singapore, I'll be getting it from the States soon.

I remembered my Econs teacher used to say "Big is beautiful!" Looks like she has to read this book to get a new perspective? LOL

As a person of recent trauma from multiple leg injury, I can tell you that it isn't quite true... LOL

Oh man! I'm seriously behind time for reading stuff man. Good books are coming out like a month of rainfall poured over a minute! I'm trying to cut on other commitments (which I have almost none for now) to get myself to be more focus to clear the reading load that I have been accumulating... Perseverance and determination! And I do think that I need a large amount of that! Anyway, I'm completing the "Feds" book and I've read something else which I will write the review later. At least it's some consolation i guess? (that's provided I do not compare it against my past record for reading. LOL)

The Proposal, Public Enemies, State of Play, G.I.Joe

Here we go... After the new diagnoses began, i was either bored or tired. What's the best entertainment other than some good movies? In fact, this time round, i have gotten a wide range of movies, from romance (which i don't watch them at the cinemas), powerhouse historical-based film, nerve-gripping thriller, and action-packed movies; they are in the chronological order as I've written in the title of this entry.

I began with The Proposal. It's definitely a movie that's worth watching (or renting). I'm not advising to buy as this is one movie that you might not watch it again. It's pretty good, for the enemies-turned-lovers plot. In fact, it's good that it has clearly shown some insight on how women can be dominating and insecure at the same time. Realistic? Hell no, as I would never married a person whom i loved to hate for 3 years then try to fall in love and get married in 3 days!

The poster has shown something that was indeed part of the plot in the movie that Sandra Bullock had proposed to Ryan Reynold (using their real names as I can't recall their names in the show, go check out the Wikipedia if you want to find out what's their names) to prevent deportation back to Canada. Of course, Ryan would be making full use of this opportunity to pave way to his editor dream and would know Sandra inside-out since he has been the assistant to her anal boss for 3 years. It was the trip to his parents' place for his grandma birthday which Sandra was so reluctant to go at first, that soften Sandra and touched by his family members and friends. It was then that she realized that there is something that is more important than a business deal (the prevention for deportation and the editor promotion for him).

The story was carried out in a hilarious way and I'm not surprised that Sandra Bullock is nominated for Golden Globe for her role in it. She's good! C'mon, you can't expect a woman to go naked for a whole minute and ran into Ryan Reynold (who is also naked) for nothing right? Well done Sandra! LOL

Do watch it with you girlfriend and she might love you more! LOL

Don't watch it if you have been a pathetic orphan all along and haven't receive any love, care and concern in your life till now. Trust me, you'll be weeping madly like a faulty tap gone crazy while cursing everyone else on Earth.

The second movie that i've watch was good but not that good. I'm not too sure whether it has got to do with my prior knowledge of the Bank Robbers- John Dillinger, George Nelson (aka Baby Face Nelson) and Charles Floyd (aka Pretty Face Floyd). See? I can even recall their nicknames. The first time when i came across their names was when i was reading about the post-great-depression history reference. John Dillinger was known as the "Public Enemy No. 1" in the United States of America. In fact, he was very much a hero at that time as people hated the banks and everyone was struck in poverty. People were hoping that these robbers will bleed those rich dry. It was due to the firearms that they had, the police and the FBIs had a hard time chasing them down.

The show was written in such a way that John Dillinger (portrayed by Johnny Depp) is the protagonist. This is the point where I'm not comfortable with the show. Firstly, John Dillinger was a person who loves women, I mean LOTS of WOMEN. In fact, he was warned by Nelson that he might one day fall in the hands of cops because of women (and he did). Secondly, it was Nelson that had been the mastermind of many big robberies then, but even at that time, the FBIs credited John more than Nelson. Nelson only became the "Public Enemy No. 1" after John died. This led to the third thing which i was quite turned off. The order of them being dead is John, Floyd and then Nelson. I clearly remembered this as Nelson was the one who refused to be shot in the back and literally walked against the bullets directed at him while firing wildly at the agents. He did killed one of them if i didn't remember wrongly. Another issue would the loving husband quality of Nelson that made me hate to love. Nelson is bad, he is a robber but he's a caring father and loving husband. At the same time, he is brave (though not in the socially accepted way) to face his death when he could have escaped. The order of death was wrong in the show. The personality of the characters isn't that accurate either. I was indeed puzzled when i read about critics that were saying that it is a film shot pretty close to the reality. "Did you fail history during high school?" was my immediate reaction. How can this be close when basics are wrong? However, if i were to put this aside, in terms of acting skills, Johnny Depp is good in captivating the audience providing the struggle of the robbers and the wit to stay afloat.

Do watch it if you want to experience the past glamour of the robbers and how the FBIs were clearly no match for them at that time.

Don't watch it if you are avid history reader and haven't place any insurance on your television. (most likely you'll be pretty agitated like i did when i was watching it).

After watching Public Enemies, I told myself I've got to watch something decent, as least something close to my taste. I was looking at my hands of what it's left: State of Play and G.I.Joe. I told myself that my doctors might find me dead if i were to watch G.I.Joe. Hence, for the sake of humanity and spare the use of the crash cart (it would be useful if I've gone into cardiac-arrest), I have chosen State of Play. State of Play has my praise of all the movies that I've selected (which I've concluded after watching all). It actually portrays the relationship between politics and journalism. Great! I've always love the powerhouse thrillers which set you thinking right from the beginning of the movies (which is why I've never go for romance in the cinemas). The story is complicated and I don't want to spoil anyone of you out there wanting to catch the movie. The idea is simple: never believe what you received. Even it's your BFF, you illegitimate sleepover buddies, whatever you name it... You will never know when you are being used for certain purpose and who to trust. Good movie for everyone working with a group of people and a must watch for people who are into journalism and politics!

Nice posters? Yes and indeed the nice things about the movies will remain in it's graphic and computer graphics and nothing else... LOL. I mean, c'mon! Everyone should be mentally prepared when they get such movie of the shelves! Action-packed, overwhelmed CG, guys with 6-packs, girls with big boobs... and the list goes on. Basically it's a story where a weapon manufacturer became nuts and wished to intimidate the rest of the world to submit to his power (of manufacturing weapons?).

Do watch this movie when you just want to awe of what the movie industries are capable of doing and you can't stand people talking in front of you for more than a minute (every now and then the scene changes).

Don't watch this if you are a person whom your friends describe you as 'over-analysing' as you might go crazy at the end of the movie when you realized that there is nothing in the movie that is worth analyzing and you couldn't find any to start with in the first place. LOL

Time Off

Just hangout with Glenn to pass him his birthday present and had dinner. It was good to hangout with friends you haven't meet in a while.

The most unexpected event would be the conversation with Victor. I haven't chat with him for a LONG time. Think it has been 3 years at least. However, he has never fail to inspire me to relate some of my inner worries that have been haunting me for a while. What I normally do is to avoid it at all cost and put it behind the facade of joy and laughters. I'm not trying to scare anyone of you that I have been hanging out with, neither am I saying that I was 'acting' all along when I'm with you guys. What I am trying to say is that I have been running away for a while and it's my issue and I'm the only one that's able to get over it.

I was telling Victor that life seems to be better if it's tough constantly than to let be within reach of something that you want and take it away from you. In my case, it would be the situation of not going to "where-you-guys-would-know". (I haven't let many know about it) I did ask and pray but there was no reply, no answer. My faith began to wane. My soul began to rot. Nothing matters anymore. I have been spending money on things that I wouldn't really know whether I like or need. But I desperately needed to get myself to something so that I'm aware that I'm moving on. It's a terrible feeling to be stuck onto something when you can neither move on nor to give it up. This feeling sucks! Distraction happens to be easily available. It provides an avenue where I can turn away from what's bothering me and indulge myself in some temporary pleasure and ease. It's superficial but it's essential and that's why I'm still alive till now. Regardless of a promiscuous personality or a arrogant and demanding person (to certain people) life seems to be easier to get by this way.

Victor told me to revisit the bible. In specific he told me to look under Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 29:11-13 (New International Version)

¹¹ For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ¹² Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. ¹³ You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

I couldn't help but to wonder whether he's implying that I haven't pray hard enough with all my heart? I have been suffering from insomnia for a while. In fact, it should have been months that I've been affected. I'm afraid to sleep as the quietness of the night reminds me of my difficult life while darkness makes me wallow in pain. I couldn't get through this plan that's His intention of prospering me.

I'm writing this entry as I want you guys to know that I'm going through a 'process' where I haven't got the slightest idea of where it leads to. I'm trying hard to figure it out while you guys have been the best people for the past few weeks of keeping me going. But it's time for me to figure this out on my own and I will need some time to sort out the mess of my life. I have been busy with the lives of the others except for my very own, it's good that I'm force to take some time off from teaching, banking and other commitment. I believe it's a sign that I have to face my own issues.

2010 New Year Resolution...

Alright, after sitting around for one whole afternoon, guess i'm pretty done for 2010 New Year Resolutions (NYS). I'm going to be short on the stuff that i've set out to achieve.

Be thrifty; meaning spend less and spend on things that are classified as necessities while cutting the fringe. (though i've just made payment for another Amazon purchase, but think that is justified as NECESSITIES. So, i'm clear of my conscience. LOL)

learn to save MORE. The keyword here is more, though I do save (yes, you might be surprised but the fact is that I DO SAVE, OK?). This is mainly due to the fact that I want to leave this place for good, hence, the more savings I have the higher chance of survival that I'll be making out there.

Change my choice of car (reluctant to do so... but... sigh...). This is derived from the above clauses. Hence, I have spent some time looking through cars and done some research. Toyota is quite off the list for now, though being fuel efficient, I'll probably wanna kill myself whenever I see another Camry parked beside me. But the real problem is, which one to choose? You guys might want to give me some advice on this... Being the same engine variant, I'm really having a hard time to choose. But one thing remains clear, the Accord is manufactured in Thailand and the Odyssey is manufactured in Japan.

Refreshment course for French and I should really start on Japanese to enable a completion date to be in sight... (HW is probably rolling his eyes... LOL)

Listen more to my Doctors and behave with more constraint and discipline. That means no more wild drinking party and less late nights for me. Actually, it's quite easy since I've stepped down from giving Economics lectures (still there some occasional revision seminars to conduct) and banking work. Just hope that I'll be able to stay in this way as long as possible, as least till August when they are pretty done with me.

I think that's about it and if I can get them all done, it's really a great accomplishment for 2010. LOL. I am hoping that there ain't sudden stuff popping along the way, just like the fate of my left foot which is still in the long process to full recovery.

I haven't got much expectation except that I do hope that my students of 2009 will do well for their A level exams and my family and friends to stay healthy.

Since I've just came back, I have decided to enter this post before i go to bed. It was a night not to be forgotten, with laughter and weariness. Trust me, most of us will be experiencing muscle ache later especially Gabriel who has been using most of his strength on the Wii remote control. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my favourite black controller will be working fine after his violent ways of handling it. LOL.

We had met at Raffles City for crepe before moving to The OrchardCentral (OC) to get more games. Unfortunately, there wasn't many choice left for us to choose from and i was at the brink of getting the Band Hero set to play but most of them said that it would probably be the rare occasion that I'll be using it and very soon it'll probably go into storage. LOL. I've got to agree with them as such game isn't quite my type and i ended up buying the Assassin's Creed II together with the guide book.

Later on, we went to get some goodies before heading to HW's place. This was where the fun began. LOL

Anyway, it's a good opportunity for us to hang out and to enjoy since we haven't been doing this in a while. It's always "4 missing 1" kind of action like the last time when they met for karaoke and i was nursing my pathetic leg at home (quite pleased though as Ed and HW fell very sick after that outing... LOL).

The next meet wouldn't be far, we are meeting for a singing session on Tuesday! Till then, everyone do take care and i do hope that Gabe will be able to lift the microphone by then (but it's okay if he doesn't, spare us the torture... LOL).

A Long Way Gone- Memoirs of a Boy Soldier

FINALLY!!! i'm done reading this book. I think i have been procrastinating a little of the past 2 weeks. It is the longest period that i have taken to complete a book of such length. Perhaps it was partly due to the holiday season, a little lagging behind my normal schedule. LOL

Anyway, back to the main topic of this book- A Long Way Gone, Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. It is a book that everyone should read if they feel that their lives suck a big time and lacked the motivation to move on. Nothing beats this, trust me. What's more agonizing to lose your parents at the age of 12, losing your brothers along the way, constantly running away from rebels, going on hunger for more than a week till you have difficulty eating when you have the chance to do so, listening to stories of your schoolmate and found out that his sisters were raped in front of him and the classmate whom you had such intimate conversation died shortly after? Not enough? What about finding out that your family members had reunited but were wiped out under the fires of rebel within the next 30 minutes with the agony of being left behind; being force to hold a AK-47 to fight the rebels or to leave the shelter immediate and get killed by the rebels; to be sent to New York City in order to present the situation of your country (Sierra Leone) during winter in summer clothing and get sent home shortly after to be engulfed in civil war once again? Sigh. I guess it is pretty difficult to top that, anything more than that, I am pretty sure that you are in HELL.

This much of torture in a child's life makes you appreciate your life much better. At least, we are able to deal with a thing at a time. I really wonder people at Sierra Leone (referring to rebels and soldiers) know what they are doing to their future generation. Though the civil war is over, i am sure the scars that were left behind have some detrimental effects on their future.

Developed countries definitely have no reason to be in the state of Schadenfreude, the fact being that we had allowed such inhumane actions to take place right under our nose where ability is not an issue to prevent from happening. Look act the amount of costs and effort that we had contributed to the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and even the recent Iraq War, supposed these effort were to be directed toward Africa, countless lives would have been saved. Why haven't we done so? I think the reason is pretty clear, and being and Economics student, it's opportunity costs and economical interests. "What can Africa give?" most countries might asked; some even quoted "it's the God forsaken land" explains how people view of Africa. Most countries would want to intervene matters of theirs can't imagine if the people were to put up a request on foreign help to be given to them UNCONDITIONALLY. (Yes, as most of the time, terms and conditions do apply when help is given, and these clauses normally make the situation worse.)

How can these countries gain international awareness and attention? I had this conversation with a friend and we came to a conclusion that it's either they found out that they have such large amount of oil beneath their land that will occupy 70% of world's oil production or they have to come out with the cure for Cancer and AIDS. Those scenarios are very unlikely for the time being and even if they were to miraculously realised, much of the funds might be channeled into corruption and fueling civil war. It's just a vicious cycle and i can go on and on describing it.

I do recommend you guys to read this book to understand what is happening or has happened in the African plain, and in this case, Sierra Leone. After reading this book, I have the perception of doing good no matter how small it is as it will go around and who knows that I might need it somewhere down the road or it could go round to the other side of the Earth.

Personally, this sentence caught my attention and i am to resonate with the emotions and thoughts (don't ask me why as it's personal):

"It was much easier to be sad than to go back and forth between emotions, and this gave me the determination I needed to keep moving."

The thought of getting Wii has been going on for a while and HW has beat me in getting the console while i was nursing my pathetic leg at home. LOL. One reason for the hesitation was that the Wii console has been out on the market for a while. In fact, it is the oldest among Playstation3, XBOX 360 and of course Wii itself. However, it is a different game play on a very interactive level. I personally think it could be quite a challenge to the XBOX 360 since that they developing Project Natal for interactive game play on the console. There will be more expectation since it's going to be released in 2010.

Wii is very interesting (and very good for self torture... read further to understand) that you can play games with motion sensors. The assembly of the console was simple. Since i haven't gotten the XBOX 360, i can't speak for that just yet (still contemplating on whether to get it now or to wait for Project Natal to be launched). I started off playing bowling with my mum, surprising she won (and nearly destroyed my LCD TV! LOL). Then I went to try archery and wakeboarding, the whole experience was simply awesome! At the end of the day, my muscles were aching badly that i felt that my arms were falling apart. I were literally asking my arms to rise and it wasn't responsive at all. LOL.

The only complaint that i have was probably synchronization of the second controller. This is the part where HW comes in handy since he has gotten the console first. He mentioned that it was totally written in the operation manual, but given the op-manual intensive me, I couldn't find it! Hence, it either HW knew it beforehand, or my English it getting from excellent to slightly above good. LOL.

BUY Wii if you are a party person and love to have people coming over to your place. They will be entertained with lots of fun. Buy Wii if you don't want to be a couch potato while playing games and want to feel less guilt. LOL.

DON'T BUY Wii if you are the type of person that pursue graphic quality above everything else; love RPGs; spend most the time on your own. (sounds quite similar to who i am... LOL)

I will you keep you guys updated after I get Wii Fit! Meanwhile, i'll need to recuperate for the time being... muscles are still aching at this point as i am trying to complete this entry... LOL

Starhub Hubstation HD

This holiday season i won't be lonely though i'll be spending most of my time at home. Why? Because i have just subscribed to the Starhub Cable TV services. What's more, IT'S IN HD AND I CAN RECORD THE PROGRAMS!!! LOL

Yes, i would no longer have to abandon my friends to catch the shows that i want to watch. During those days when i was serving my National Service in the Army we was so free (Basic Millitary Training- for the first 3 months) that my platoon mates used to have lots of energy to spend during the weekend for clubbing and have all sorts of fun before booking in late on Sunday night. I had often abandon them for the sake of catching show on Discovery Channel and AXN. (hope that they are not reading this now? LOL) Used to tell them that i was too tired from training, when there isn't much to start with, and needed the time to rest. Oops! I lied. Certain shows are freaking good on cable and the urge to watch cable is high when you don't get to watch cable programs in the Army (duh?). This time round, the Hubstation HD is able to record the shows that i want to watch and i can just leave it there and TADA! it will be done the next day when i can watch them all in a row and save time from fast-forwarding the commercial parts! LOL

There are many new channels coming on to Starhub, but i have taken mostly from the old package that i had:

Hold on iPhone; Hello, BlackBerry Bold 9700!!!

The cool and sexy BlackBerry Bold 9700 box...

BlackBerry Bold 9700 has finally come to Singapore! After some long wait, it's finally here. I have gotten it last week, but i couldn't really discuss about it since my BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) wasn't up yet. Think that has got to do with the porting process of my corporate line from MobileOne to Starhub.

Ported my number from MobileOne to Starhub...

The BlackBerry is indeed the ultimate phone for email intensive users. After the BIS was set up, i have managed to link my email accounts to my phone in no time. The emails are updated as it is on my computer. It has functions to let you select whether you want to delete the emails on your Blackberry only, or you can choose to delete the emails on both your BlackBerry and your email account. This function is not avail on the iPhone.

The Software that comes with it...

Design wise, the BlackBerry is smaller than the iPhone. It's handy and interesting for people who are willing to spend some time to understand the shortcuts for BlackBerry. The sound quality is definitely better than the iPhone. It could actually sync with my iTunes to get the songs over to the BlackBerry music player. It even has the album covers that were used mainly on my iPod. The touch pad is relatively sensitive, at times, a little too sensitive. The only down side will be the size of the qwerty keypad. I tend to press multiple buttons if i were to go too fast with my typing, i think people who are used to using their fingernails will love it! LOL.

Visual is good, but not for reading long, fine web pages. Due to the screen size, it difficult to concentrate on reading when you have to scroll up down and left right (in zoom mode). This issue isn't a problem on the iPhone as they have the accelerometer and they have the "spreading fingers" to enlarge function.

Overall, I can understand why there are so many Americans going crazy for the BlackBerry. You can't use the way you appreciate the iPhone to judge the BlackBerry Bold 9700. It wouldn't be fair in the first place where they were meant for very different groups of people, especially the BlackBerry Bold 9700. It is very useful and even better than the iPhone for the corporate users. One thing that is very important of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is being stable. From the beginning till now, i haven't experience any lagging or hang from the OS (Operating System) which i think the iPhone has to work on if it has the intention of wooing the corporate clients. I would give the BlackBerry Bold 9700 a 8.5/10.

I think i will be in love with my BlackBerry Bold 9700 for a while till iPhone gets its upgrade on its hardware (and software too).

There is not doubt that James Cameron knows the hell lot of things to keep audience captivated and eager to watch his works. Avatar is a movie that has not disappoint the fans that have been long following him since Titanic. Many of us were worried that that might be too much anticipation and eventually it might lead to some disappoint like what we have seen in Transformers 2 this year. i am not suggesting that all producers and directors be like James Cameron (we'll run out of movie to watch soon... he typically takes 5-7 years to come out with sth).

This is definitely the movie of the year. If you are not a movie fan, you have to catch this at least. Be amazed by how the new standard has been set be James Cameron in Avatar 3D. The texture, storyline, the details of coming out with a new language, the background and the theme of the movie are so brilliantly twisted that you might be amazed as we had saw the human genome code for the first time. Seriously, i'm trying to tone down so as to not oversell the movie, but it's so good that i can't stop talking about it. I would mind watch the movie twice... or even thrice? LOL

How is Avatar different and similar from Titanic? In terms of scale, I think they are about the same. I remembered one of my classmates used to comment on Titanic like that, he said "Titanic is a movie which has simply merged a romance in the period of a major tragedy.." LOL. Nah... That isn't true anyway. That movie is trying to explore the good and dark side of humanity on the brink of life and death. As for Avatar, i think it hasn't stop exploring from the good and dark side of humanity but it has reached out even further. Questions like "Who has the right to determine who as the terrorists? Is any climate change negotiation ever going to work? Is it right to send someone to infiltrate to the enemies side to befriend and gain their trust before turning against them? What if the 'someone' infiltrated and began bond with them and be tired of this whole espionage adventure?" Lastly, i think the most important question, at least for me is "What makes a person so tired of his current life that he's dream seems a better place for him to be and lose the desire of waking up?" Yes, all these can be answered if you are able to think while you are watching the movie.

Finally, i would like to mention on the details of the movie background such as the language and habitat. It's freaking hard to come out with a theme to be able to bind and enhance the story all together. Though there's help from CG, it's very realistic after all. How should i put it? Erm... Ok, it's something that halfway though the movie, you wish you were one of them! Think that sounds perfect. I refuse to go into the details because that would probably spoil the fun and excitement of watching it.

Last but not least, you have to watch it in 3D for the experience. Hence, please don't come after me if you haven't watch it in that mode. LOL

Goodbye, PSP...

I have given my PSP away. Guess that the spirit of giving is higher when one is feeling depressed? LOL.

Anyway, i have given it to my cousin who i know that a PSP which is quite an inferior good to me will be an luxury good to him. What's more he's just a kid who is easily intimidated by my presence. LOL. Seriously, just like what his mum (my aunt) said that is very true. Don't ask me why, but i hardly joke or play with him.

The possession of PSP seems to drive him to work extra hard on his routine homework so that he will have more time to play. C'mon, that's pretty typical for a 9 year-old kid right? LOL The PSP is pretty new as i haven't been much of a big fan playing games on mobile device. Remember the last time i did, it cost me some Godiva chocolate left behind at the Starbucks in Liang Court!!!

On second thought, i suddenly remember the reason that i have gotten that PSP. One reason being that I would want to get the relevant games of FF series. Oh Shit!!! I can't go back to him and tell him that i regret giving him the device right? Forget it, I'll probably get another one. Anyway, that PSP has some er...hmph function which will he will be needing it more that i do. Feel better after doing something good, did I? LOL Let's keep my fingers crossed and hope that my aunt won't be complaining to me about the PSP!

Book Review: Superfreakonomics

I have been using most of the time reading since i am recuperating from my recent "you know it is". I lied. I mean I lied about the part that i have spent most of my time reading. I have been quite upset about my condition so i was either watching DVDs of House from season 1-5, or i was just wallowing about the whole misfortune in my life.

I began to read as reading is the last skill and hobby that i want to lose at this moment. Just feeling vulnerable from time to time, and things sort of get worse when you are unable to get out of the house. Enough said of the pathetic me. I have finished reading Superfreakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J, Dubner.

I have read their first copy, Freakonomics, which introduced by one of my college friend who is currently enjoying life in Stanford. i have since love their way of presenting economics facts and research. I have never been a big fan of microeconomics but this book has really brought about the much needed zest in the subject. It makes you think about people's actions and what are their intentions of doing so since we all know that (at least for people who did economics at some stage of the academic life) people are motivated by incentives and we have unlimited needs and desire. However, if we were to focus solely on the theory part, believe me, it will put most of us off. You don't need to be some economists or doing it academically to understand what Steven and Stephen have presented. All you need is an open mind and the world seems so interesting out of the sudden.

In Superfreakonomics, they have talked about prostitutes and how do they practice price discrimination and how the daily routine of an terrorist can be observed, hence preventing them from carrying out their terrorist's act. I love the Street prostitution chapter and the similarities of Al Gore and Mount Pinatubo. Trust me, after reading, you would find yourself being quite an idiot, and would be tempted to try prostitution to make your life a better one. Though i don't think this is legal in Singapore and i do not have the comparative advantage of being a woman. LOL.

It's the reason why such traits still exist till today. Prostitutes do not necessarily mean that they are stupid and ignorant. Spending large amount of money and effort doesn't mean that you are contributing to bringing down global warming. At times, simple as it appears, it might have conceal something that we have overlooked in our jaundiced judgement.

It is a book that is worth reading and makes you look at things differently which i personally think that it is an important quality that one should have.

Overall, I would give it a 8/10.

Leona Lewis- Echo, Adam Lambert- For Your Entertainment, OneRepublic- Waking Up

I won't be discussing my recent injury (the third one on the same foot) in this post. Instead, I'm going to write about the new albums that I have just received this morning. I think i ought to thank the person who came out with online shopping that enables me to get my stuff without getting injured. LOL

Leona Lewis-Echo

The album cover is shown as above. I have always been a fan of Leona Lewis since those days where she was competing in the British talent show- X Factor. I remembered some of the judges said that she lacked the diva quality that is found in Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston (forgotten who said that). However, Simon Cowell did come to her defend, which i couldn't agree more, he said that if lacking of diva quality means that she is open to opinion and advice and not being some cut-throat-spoil bitch, he would rather Leona remain that way.

I personally think that Leona Lewis is very talented and does have diva qualities in her own way. I disagree with the recent Rolling Stone post stating that "a diva of the old-fashioned variety: a singer who uses her rafter-rattling voice to dramatize female suffering." and also "there's little personality — you miss a little of Mariah and Whitney's supersize ego.". I am not being biased. One has to pay attention to singing skills and qualities instead on the EGO of an artist. Come on, Leona does have personality. How many have been voted the sexist vegetarian by PETA? I have nothing against Mariah and Whitney, but i just felt that Leona deserves the chance to shine and dazzle too. Perhaps this has got to do with the protective american music industry where 'foreign music' is largely rejected? Think of Robbie William, which has won countless Brit awards but has yet to break into the American market.

I believe that James Cameron and Tetsuya Nomura aren't deaf. Where James Cameron is the director of one of the best selling movie of all time- The Titanic; and Tetsuya Nomura one of the most successful video game director for Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. My point is, Leona Lewis is good. In fact, she is excellent. I am happy there are people who really knows how to appreciate talent out there.

Adam Lambert- For Your Entertainment

Ok, Enough on the American Music Awards 2009 (AMA) controversy. Just some summarised content from Wikipedia- "The performance showed Lambert kissing a male keyboardist, grinding a dancer's head against his pelvis, and grabbing the crotch of another. Lambert told Rolling Stone magazine, "Female performers have been doing this for years—pushing the envelope about sexuality—and the minute a man does it, everybody freaks out."

Remember Madonna and Britney? There was some stir but wasn't much of an issue. People have made their decisions on the American Idol when it was much speculated that he might be gay (he only came out after the competition) and voted otherwise which i still think that was rightfully his. You can't go around taking things away from people because of they are. I simply think that there are many people out there that have to learn to act like a GROWN UP, and i am stressing the word 'ACT' as i don't expect everyone to be able to achieve that. We've got to learn to respect people's choice and in this case it is Adam Lambert being gay. He doesn't have to be the good boy that lives next door that goes to church every Sunday with his girlfriend and get married to live happily ever after for us to appreciate his music. Let's face it, he is good. In fact, he is very talented. In comparison to Steve Tyler, he is equally good other than not having the big and wide mouth? LOL. For Your Entertainment is an album that truly showcase the Glambert's personality. I personally like Whataya Want From Me

At times, i really sympathized the artists. Leona having a talented-pleasant person is being labelled as "no personality" and Adam with his loud Glambert style is being labelled as offensive. WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENING? Just can't understand how people grade talent nowadays.

FYI: Adam Lambert has sold 198 000 copies of For Your Entertainment in the first week and has peak at 3rd on US Billboard 200 while Kris Allen 135 000 copies of his first album in the first week and has peak at 11th on US Billboard 200. Information courtesy of Wikipedia. LOL

OneRepublic- Waking Up

Waking Up is probably quite similar to their previous album Dreaming Out Loud. I don't have much complain of the overall direction that Teddy Ryan has taken for this album but perhaps Simon Cowell might say "it's boring and forgetable" LOL. It's definitely music for the general public but the reception isn't as good as compared to Dreaming Out Loud where the hit song Apologize and Stop and Stare made way to the charts all over the world. I would expect OneRepublic to come out something one and trendy as they can't be doing the same kind of music over and over again. My favourite on the list is All The Right Moves

Below is the conversation that i just had with a DHL Express customer service officer.

ME: I am expecting 2 packages from Amazon.com which is supposed to be delivered by you guys.

DHL: Ok... (sounds worried)

ME: From the air-way-bill number tracking process, i saw my packages have been signed out by the courier and returned back to cargo area, can you explain why has this taken place?

DHL: I'm sorry for the delay but Amazon has given us a street name as your address without any house or unit number. That's why our courier couldn't deliver the packages to you in the fastest time possible.

ME: I have been waiting for these package since this morning, and I do not wish to wait any further.

DHL: Sir, i'll try to make arrangement for the next possible delivery. Can i have your address please?

ME: (given her my address in a pissed off tone)

DHL: Is it ok for me to slot it for evening delivery?

ME: It's NOT OKAY! I have been waiting throughout the whole morning and you are expecting me to wait till evening?

DHL: Sir, can you please hold on to the line while i'll see whether any other alternative arrangement is possible...?

ME: ... Ok.

DHL: I'm trying to get our 12-3pm courier to be back to pick up your packages. It will be delivered by 3 in the afternoon. Is this ok?

ME: What can i say? Guess i'll have to accept this arrangement.

DHL: Thank you Sir, is there anything else that i can help you?

ME: That's all...

i was telling my mum that i was so excited to receive my package and that i was so pissed off with the delay. However, my mum said that i was too aggressive towards the customer service officer, she said that the customer service officer was quite an innocent victim given the fact that it was Amazon who is responsible for the delay not DHL and it's definitely not something that she could have done to prevent.

Come to think of it, it's quite true but words said can never be taken back. All i hope is that she would understand the anxiety of mine to get the packages and would forget about the whole issue.

Btw, I'm still waiting while writing this entry... sigh...

Yes! I've watched it. You won't be able to guess who did i actually catch it with. LOL. It's my mum. Thought it was a movie where both of us will be able to connect. Can't expect her to catch something like that gigolo film that Ashton Kutcher is the leading male actor right? Think she would send me to a psychiatrist immediately! LOL

I know many have said that the plot is a little crony and predictable and The Day After Tomorrow is Roland Emmerich's peak. However, i'm gonna tell you why i think why is this movie worth watching. 2012 will be classified as a more macro-view as compared to The Day After Tomorrow; not in the scale of disaster of course (but to a certain extent it does supersede TDAT), it's in terms of humanity. Are we willing to give up our lives in order to save the others in times of crisis? What's the value of money when everyone is facing the same catastrophe? Can money buy our way out of disaster? What are the things that we will be more than willing to do as parents and children? All these are the questions that i was thinking when i was watching the movie. TDAT is more a movie that focus more on decision making and family bond, but 2012 is something that send us ponder what do we NOT know in this modern day. Is information really open to all and everyone is fair and share the same constitutional rights? If not, then who has the capacity to determine who should die and be alive?

Environmental related message is strong as we have already experienced, as i've heard from the news yesterday that China has experienced the earliest snowfall in history (1 month earlier) and many countries have high chances of reaching new lowest temperature in history. Things might not be as drastic as shown in the movie (but i can't guarantee, LOL), but sooner or later someone down the line is going to get the full impact and probably we will be dead and lying dead cold in the coffins already. We can shrug our shoulders and say this is none of our concerns as we will at least be able to live throughout our lives comfortably and given the high qualifications we have, we should be able to die comfortably too. But, are we able to carry on with our lives without guilt? I sought of felt guilty that i have spent my money on another LV bag which it could have seriously be contributed to some others who are in desperate need of help while i was watching the movie.

Therefore, in order to relieve my guilt for spending on something extravagant, i shan't blog about the bag that i have bought in THIS entry. LOL

I told myself that i should put in some effort to make sure that i am help to slow this inevitable apocalyptic disaster some where in the future. For instance, i have shortened the usage of Air-con by setting the timer so my air-con will be off by 5 in the morning which sort of irritates me a little as i am a 'air-con-boy'. I'm using the fan instead of air-con as i am typing this entry.

Another reason that i think everyone should watch this movie is because that Adam Lambert is singing the main theme song. He was the runner-up for the last season of American Idol, and apparently doing better than THE IDOL, no sarcasm, just the facts only. The song is inspiring and entertaining at the same time.

I have given it 7/10 for the reason that it's a good movie that i think it's worth your money to spend watching. As i have also deducted point for being predictable and causing my ass to ache (the movie was definitely more than 2.5 hours).
